Titan Fall 2

I am trying this on my Pico 4 and its pretty amazing what one person has created.

I need to get comfortable with the headset as that's been the reason I never play for long sessions.

Can't wait for affordable low weight glasses, although that's not happening any time soon.

What's the motion sickness like looks like a barf fest.

Very comfortable unless you turn on 3D first person cutscenes.

The reason is it doesn't apply any forced head-tilting while wall running, etc.
Apparently Respawn tried it in VR during development. They decided not to go ahead with it after many of the develop0ers felt very ill indeed after only a few minutes oif playing as the Pilot. Actually in the Titans is OK as there's enough around the view to 'fix' your view, but all the wall running and double jumping made for, as you put it, a 'barf fest'.

It's surprising that several games that would be considered 'barf fests' are actually ok in VR.
Portal 2 for example feels very comfy to me, as does Quake 3.

Ironically the only game to make me feel properly sick was Dungeons of Eternity. I still have to be very careful playing that game at speed.

I didn't have a headset for very long, at the time I didn't really have the room for one and sold it within a few months but there was this isometric platformer on the Oculus. It wasn't even first person, but it properly had me rocking back and forth on my feet and neartly made me fall over. I lasted only a few minutes.

yeh never experienced it since day 1

Then had my first spin off the track on Automobilista 2 and it hit me

Got used to it though

For a pure pukeathon, this one is it (I think, not tried!)

Last non Titanfall post from me in this thread! ;)

ok well i'm going to go against the grain here, unless something is not right with my game ...

Bear in mind i've only played about half hour, but this is my impressions..

Firstly it's no Alyx, the 2d cut scenes are janky as.. and it feels as though you are in one every few seconds in the first 10 mins of the game..

ok getting past that, after the intro stuff, and onto the FPS section in the valley at the start, yes this is good, its does feel made for VR.. general controls good.. moving and running nice.. reload.. ok.. your hands look completely spazzed out when cocking the guns, but I can get over that.. also felt you needed to be very accurate with your hand position when doing this, which led to me having to try several times.. (never had this issue in alyx!)..

The aiming mechanics could do with some work.. i.e. I found it much easier to aim one handed than two, even with the sniper, and i'm not sure that should be the case.. found that too often I could see nothing down the scope two handed, and had to mess about with where my hands aligned to get any images at all in the scope.. yes this is possibly just a user issue.. :).. but still felt very off to me.. one handed seems much simpler to get everything lined up.. but very wierd using a sniper rifle one handed..

ok that's the good and ok stuff.. finally got to the get in the large robot thing.. and oh dear...

firstly just the hmmm stuff.. the aiming / firing mechanics are just wierd.. left trigger - push forward - let go to fire rockets??? I mean wtaf?!?!?! i guess i could get used to it.. but felt very very wierd when first trying..

now onto the.. is this game completely broken... when i was in the robot, me looking straight ahead, was the robot looking towards the floor at i'd say an angle of about 20 degrees down.. to actually look straight ahead, i had to tilt my head upwards.. and as for looking up towards the top of the hills when in the valley, was my straining my head as far back as it would go literally 90 degrees upwards to look about 45 degrees up in game..

also turning felt disconnected, i.e. look left.. and my view looked inside the robot, and then after a pause the robot finally looked towards the left..

so is my game broken? is there some setting i'm missing? it certainly doesn't feel triple A at the moment.. more like a bad 70's B flick, where you can put up with some of the crap ness for some final overall enjoyment??

Doesn't sound like the experience I'm having. As for the 2D cutscenes, you can make those 3D but they were never designed for VR so they have forced camera movement which can make even VR veterans feel sick.

There was a patch for aiming, as the sights were a bit off. But you can adjust the aim angle in the settings.

Pffft, got further than I managed, it took me ten minutes to get past the first section of training where it asked me to duck under an obstacle, ended up having to bind the crouch command to the keyboard as it just refused point blank to work of my controllers.

Hi, next Spring the Meta VR Glasses are low weight...ah i just seen 'affordable', that they wont be for many unfortunately.

About TF2, ive never seen a VR mod get so much praise tbh. Simon, it sounds to me that something is a bit off or possibly broken, maybe?

PEBKAC obviously.

:p

I haven't tried it yet. Will do tomorrow and see if my experience matches yours.

Right Joystick down to crouch/slide. Did that not work? What VR system are you using?
Nope that didn't work at all, Quest 3.

Yeah that works for me , Quest 3 here as well..

Yeah possibly.. I will try it again.. just in case it was some positioning glitch..

This is the most @SimonRigga review I've ever read.
