Titan Xenomorph BSOD - help please!

AHello,

I purchased a Titan Xenomorph nearly a year ago now, and this hasn't been a huge issue before now because it was very rare, but the frequency of BSOD'ing during gaming is now ridiculous.

I have the normal Xeno system (i3 @ 4.2Ghz) with the only difference being a stock 460GTX.

This happens pretty much every time, be it Black Ops, Batman AA, or any game really. A few minutes in I'll get a BSOD and I can see "physical dump of memory".

A friend had a similar issue, and a quick resolution was to remove the overclock (back to the standard 2.93Ghz) and he hasn't had any issues since. Could it be that the OC is too aggressive? What are peoples thoughts? And what exactly does the "physical dump of memory" screen mean? There isn't enough time for me to catch all the details.

Would anyone be able to talk me through tweaking the clock, to say 3.6Ghz? And see if that helps?

Thanks,
Chris.

Also, in addition to that I frequently get "BlackOps.exe has stopped working" when playing MP or SP, so not an actual BSOD, but the game crashes. This also happens with other games...

Not really sure what's going on! But this happens quite frequently.

Could be overheating, have you looked at your temps? Recently upgraded the drivers? May be worth trying a different one.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think it is a temp related issue. I have CPUID Hardware Monitor and I have done some benchmarks and temps never seem to crazy.

CPU Core 1: 42C
CPU Core 2: 39C

Above is at idle, but under load they don't reach 70C+.

As for drivers, I haven't installed anything new in awhile. And if I do, it's only ever the Nvidia gfx driver. But I've had this issue from ages ago, so it seems to be the same across multiple releases of the driver.

I think you just have a poorly overclocked machine, not an irregular occurance from what i'm seeing. What are the BIOS settings?

Try going back to an old driver before you had the problem.

What temps are you getting from the GPU?

So do I...my friend had the exact same issue, and as I said in OP, going back to stock has sorted it. I will grab the details from the bios screen.

33C idle. That's the point, I've had this problem for months, across various drivers. The only reason I raise it now is that this past week it seems to happen pretty much every time I load up a game. Yet I haven't changed the driver in this period, so it seems very random. But the underlying issue has been there probably from month 1 of owning the machine. Just never annoyed me as much to make a thread!

Just ran a Unigine, expecting it to crash, nothing! Yet if I fire up Black Ops (SP or MP), Batman AA, Crysis 1 or 2, GTA IV about 5 mins in, BSOD.

i think its the oc. if you set it to stock i dont think youll have the same issues. the profile should be saved in the bios so you can load it anytime you want

Reset the BIOS, so I'm back to running @ stock.

Will test it out and report back. If all does appear to be fixed, would anyone be willing to help me OC it slightly? I mean I paid for an OC'ed machine (i.e. Overclockers experience and knowledge to safely and reliably overclock it - so I'd like some extra performance over stock!)

Small observation, idle temps before:
CPU Core 1: 42C
CPU Core 2: 39C

Idle temps now:
CPU Core 1: 30C
CPU Core 2: 26C

Wow...

Also had issues with a pre-overclocked ocuk machine, also turned out to be the overclock, due to the wrong profile being loaded onto my bios apparently.

Interesting...

Is this not also a bit strange?

I don't know how much CPU comes into play with this benchmark, but I was expecting a huge drop??

The CPU has little to no effect with Heaven, it's a GPU benchmark so it stresses your graphics card. Obviously there is a small difference but the benchmark is designed to be GPU limited.
As for the issues with your PC, as others have said in this thread (and I said in a webnote reply this morning) do try the system at stock and see how it goes. If it's the overclock causing the issue we'll happily help you tweak the settings to regain stability, or arrange a return to base if that's what is necessary - as we do with any system experiencing issues we're unable to fix over the phone, forum or webnotes.

Hi Calum,

The machine is now at stock settings. I will give it a trial over the next couple days, but so far so good. It was fairly frequent before so if it's going to crash, it should catch it out soon.

If you could then help establish a stable OC that would be great. I'll keep you updated.

Chris.

That's great, I'm glad that the issue seems resolved at stock settings. This should be a fairly easy fix, just tweak a few settings and it should be fine. Always better to find an OC issue than a hardware issue.
The best thing to do would be to contact us via webnotes in a day or so, or use the customer service forum - it's more likely that staff will see your post there and be able to help, rather than here where we're not guaranteed to see it.
