Titan Xenomorph Problem

my recently purchased Titan Xenomorph w/ 5830 graphics upgrade (3 days old) was on standby mode, and on trying to turn it back on, the computer's fans power up, start spinning, and then turn off again, and this just continues to repeat...

anyway, I've managed to break this cycle and got the machine powering up normally now, but the main problem lies in the fact that I cant get a signal to my monitor through DVI or hdmi. I've tried two different iiyama 24" monitors and nothing works.. help!

cheers.

I would go with the overclock giving you problems, try a CMOS reset either by shorting the pins on the motherboard or removing the battery. This will reset your overclock, but you may have a saved profile by overclocker which you can load.

But being 3 days old I would post in the customer section below if you do not want to do the above.

well, the fact of the problem is that I actually have no idea what you just said lol.. don't understand things to do with bios etc very well, so think I should just get in touch with customer service... I'm extremely disappointed because it looked an amazing bit of kit and I just got red alert 3 :(

update: got the computer working again, registering with the monitor, but had a bit of trouble starting up windows 7 64 bit. kept getting an error message that the restoration files could not be used, and this would lead to a blank page that required a reset.. then managed to choose the other option, and got the computer to delete this restoration and start up windows again, where it then did a disc check. my question is how much damage could have been caused to my machine and is there any way to check? :(

There's a number of things that can prevent your machine from waking up properly and tbh another machine is not the answer. If your power saving plan is not set right this can happen. In other words when left alone your operating system will power down various bits of your system. Does it work ok after a reboot?

Ah ok, putting a note in the customer section would be a best bet then :)

Basically clearing the CMOS resets the BIOS to default / fail safe settings, as your system is overclocked sometimes they can through a wobbler, mine does periodically.
Ocuk may talk you through it or collect the machine and return so you play Red Alert 3 :)

Edit: Seen your edit, my details may not need to be done.

edited my last post with an update, the problem was the fact that it would start up but switch itself off again, but after managing to get the machine to reboot properly, the machine would no longer register through my DVI cable to the monitor. after powering down everything and starting back up, its managed to reconnect with my monitor, but got a few errors messages that required me to start windows 7 again and run a hard disc check.. my only worry is that I have no way to tell how much damage has been done (if any) to my system as its a brand new system and don't want it to go the way of the pc it replaced..

what does RMA mean? sorry for the probably stupid question...

also further update, my overclock is gone.. was running at 4.2 GHz, but its now running at the stock i3 speed.. i get this speed when checking through dxdiag and through steam aswell...

real shame because i've heard such good things about overclockers... just dont have much luck with computers im afraid :(

can someone point me in the right direction of where this can be addressed? sorry, pretty new to the forums and trying to do a few things at once.

cheers all.

the problem was the fact that it would start up but switch itself off again,

Either your heatsink is not seated properly or the PSU is up the left. Most probably the heatsink has came loose during shipping and the machine is shutting down to prevent CPU damage. RMA it with OcUK.

RMA : Return Materials Authorisation - in other words the seller gives you a code which you stick on the box when you are returning the machine. Speak to OcUK first as I have a feeling your cooler has just come loose.

oh ok, cheers for the advice.. i'll definitely get in touch with ocUK tomorrow and find out what can be done about it.. if the problem is caused by a loose heatsink like you said, would securing it cause my cpu to go back to its original overclock of 4.2 GHz?

after the initial problems, the pc has been behaving itself and there hasn't been any more problems, other than the fact that the overclock is gone..

not happy from an 800 pound machine that is 3 days old :(

The shut straight after restart is sometimes a unstable overclock, when doing my over clock I got similar problems, note in the customer section should get you under way.

Unfortunately this happens with pre-bult machines but it's not OcUK fault. Your Overclock is done inside what is called a BIOS (Basic Input Output System) which is entered well before Windows boots. I wouldn't worry about the Overclock right now as your machine is shutting down for a reason. Speak with OcUk and they will tell you what to do. Don't think you have a crap machine because of this... far from it - when PC's get knocked about in a Courier's van then things can come loose. My first PC didn't boot and it turned out to be a loose cable on the HDD [Hard Disk Drive].

The motherboard can save the overclock to a profile on the BIOS, if you want you can load this by pressing Del during the boot process which will take you into the BIOS and press F12 this should hopefully show the saved profiles with the overclock in.

oh no, im not blaming overclockers at all for this because i know that it is a top notch machine.. better value for money than any other company i've seen.. (pc i bought was a better spec than a 1600 pound alienware pc)

i've just never had much luck with computers before, they always seem to go wrong apart from the pc im typing from at the moment which has needed one format and a fan replaced in over 5 years :P

will my overclock return if the cpu cooler is loose and fixed, or will i need to send it back for everything to be put the way it should be? - already answered, cheers lol

Load the overclock and boot straight into the BIOS to check temps, in the past the when the pc shut down after booting is the board trying to boot with the overclock, my ud5 has done this, reloaded the the same setting and had not got any further problems :)

Pedro a loose heatsink is Hardware [things you can physically touch] whilst a BIOS [things you can't physically touch] is a type of software for the board in your machine that the processor talks to. The normal advice here would be to check your CPU cooler is on secure but as you are just finding your way then I would suggest calling OcUK.

This is how we all learn - seems complicated but trust me it's not. Just an up to date version of Mechano ;o)

Personally i wouldn't go poking around in a 3 day old pc, if its not working and its only 3 days old i would just in touch tomorrow and leave them sort it for you and save you the hassle / risk of not really knowing what you're doing. Clearly you don't want to possibly void any warranty and the reason you buy a pre build is so you don't have to go poking around in it. (plus from your posts you sound as if you would prefer to leave the hardware all alone).

But about your overclock, your bios may keep a profile so you/ overclockers can just re load that or it may just disable it (my gigabyte does) if something isn't right. So its not lost forever :)
