Titanfall mindless mechanical COD or not?

Never seen them state that in an interview.

From what I gather, Activision wanted them to make Modern Warfare 3. However, according to their contract had an option to decide what their next game would be and would have done something else.

Hence Titanfall.

I'd say not. I've not read the reviews, but I did play the beta. It was a lot of fun. I can see the novelty possibly wearing off, but I still think it's well worth the price tag. The thing with comparing it to CoD as if it's a bad thing isn't fair. CoD in it's own right isn't bad, it's a brilliant time passer and very easy to pick up and play unlike it's EA counterpart. The reason CoD gets so much stick, is because Activision insist on bringing out the same game time after time with no reasonable change in mechanic.

From what I grabbed from the beta, Titanfall is comparable to CoD in the way that it is easy to pick up and play, and it's a whole lot of fun. You feel like a badass' when you hear "warning you are outnumbered 3 to 1" :D. Definitely worth a squirt, but I can't see the servers being rammed for all that long.

I'm struggling to garner enthusiasm for it. I've watched some reviews and it seems to get good recommendations but I dunno... it just feels like it suffers from the same problem that COD has for the past few years - like it was designed by committee.

It just doesn't seem to have that groundbreaking feature that would set it beyond and above other games. Take the COD run and gun gameplay, loadouts, weapon unlocks yada yada yada, and make your killstreak perk the ability to call in a mech which is just a bigger, more armoured version of you with a different loadout.

The mech's are quite different to being the pilot.

They can't jump for a start, they can't enter buildings to capture hardpoints etc. It's actually pretty tricky to eliminate pilots in a Titan as they can hide with relative ease and a well placed grenade can take a shield down in one go.
