Titanic full scale demo - Unreal Engine 4

As for what sort of game it is going to be, the ideas sound interesting for sure. But I think a beautiful environment like this could lend itself to various different story/atmosphere driven games, not necessarily having to actually be based on real events. They've set such a mega standard of visuals now though they're really going to have to absolutely nail any characters that walk around to not make it look jarring!

Its like your user name "amazing"
:D

Do I get to walk around Southampton in 'free roamy' way?
Nope, just walk around the ship and a bit of the docks.

At the moment it is a walking simulator - very slow walk speed which is quite annoying and for some reason there is a maze to do before you get onto the ship - not sure why the developers thought it would be a good idea to make you slowly trudge around a dock before you get on board. If it was an attempt at 'build up' before the main event then it's quite a frustrating one!
You can speed up movement by pressing shift or if using a gamepad left trigger. The maze is a bit lame, but I think it did provide a small build up for me - but it could definitely be improved on. You can skip the maze however, on the main menu you can jump straight to the ship.

Even with the 'sprint' button, it is only a fast walk or a jog. When you're stuck on E deck sauntering down a white corridor a faster walk would be good! I think forcing a slow walking speed is bad design - slow speed should be achieved by having things to look at or by wanting to be immersive, which make you want to go slowly (when I was in the dining rooms for instance, I didn't use sprint). I'd imagine in the full game this will be the case most of the time as it sounds very immersive and when the ship is full of people and 'bustle' I won't be annoyed about walking slowly, I'd want to walk slowly!

Hopefully in the game the build up is replaced by events in Southampton (you're framed for a crime the website says)

Here are a few screenshots at 1080p max (with a mix of max AA and medium AA - it turns out my 390x can run it with max AA with no issues which was a nice surprise)

When I was a kid I remember playing a Titanic game on PC, it think it was called Titanic adventure through time or something?

Does anyone else remember it?

i'm finding the demo pretty choppy with rig in sig 60% gpu usage and 40% cpu its stuttering and dropping frames to single digits.

Something is defo not right man, while I had fps drops myself it only really had one moment when it felt choppy. with the GPU at only 60% I guess you hitting the max frame rate on the demo 62fps?

Some of the old games were great. Broken sword, Commandos, Outlaws, Hidden & dangerous etc. I had totally forgotten about the Titanic one though until I saw this thread.

Oh turns out it will be a game ;) very ambitious, will look forward to seeing how it goes thanks op
what sort of a game could it be? i assume a survival type thing would be obvious, though could be taken as bad taste, but how does that work, cos the actual event wasn't very enthralling as i recall - at first, anyways.
