TNA Impact

Not a bad game, nice basis for a future incarnation, needs to be simmy but arcadey, shame that damage didn't really effect anything apart from how easily you were pinned.

Story mode was fun for a while, nice start to the franchise, although Ultimate X had me tearing my hair out!

Just got this game from boomerang and I can't get past the first Mexican guy. He keeps reversing all of my moves. lol.

The story is so stupid, but that just makes it awesome. :D

If your having trouble with the first guy, then your going to have a hard time fighting against the likes of AJ, Sting and Kurt Angle. Dude, you can finish the Mexican off in like 3-4 moves :)

got this yesterday to clear out a few games i dont play anymore.

must say its a good game and takes me back to when i used to play the old wwf games with its simple controls, only few gripes i have is the AI at times is useless and the ammount the computer reverse almost every decent grapple.

also playing on backyard and im still finding it difficult at times. upto LAX atm.

so far a good 7-8/10 for me but looks very good for the next installment

I got past the Mexicans then got all the way up to my first TNA TV match and thought to myself "Is this it then?" Turned it off after finding it way too repetitive, I know its a wrestling game, but the lack of moves makes it boring. It seems every wrestling has the same move set too. What a huge let down that was!

I am actually looking really forward to SVR09 now after playing TNA. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of things TNA does better than SVR, the animation, fluid controls, fast action ect. Its just the lack of CAW and other features that hold it down from being a great wrestling game.

6/10

Finished the story mode on the weekend, still got a couple of characters to unlock though

And half of the finishers are yet to be unlocked.

I could move it up a setting to finish on hard but I don't think it's worth playing through it again to have the same movesets with a new costume really is it.

The AI at times is awful, in Ultimate X matches I've had my opponent climb up/down the corner without the cables continually trying to get the X when I'm on the cables :-/

I've also had my opponent battle with a chair picking it up, putting it down, pick it up, put it down... over and over again because he can't climb up the turnbuckles to stop me when I'm on the cables :-/

It's an enjoyable game, but I'll stand by what I said earlier.

It's focused on being a fun and fluid game, but the lack of content harms a game like this. In the days when SvR has more moves and matches than you can shake a stick at (and you still feel limited at times) it leaves you wondering why TNA hasn't at least got a few more.

If the gameplay stays roughly the same and they improve the AI, add in a lot more moves and more variety in the matches... we're onto a winner :)

If anyone is thinking about picking it up, it's worth the play... Replayability is probably poor because of the lack of moves/matches (and only 1v1 online) but it'll keep you entertained for a week or so I think.

You unlock a few wresters and finishers by skill points, im still working my way thorugh the story mode but i dont know if you can continue at the end??? if so i suppose more matches = more skill points...

i realised this and noticed ultimate X matches are the best as you can use your finisher (500 points) on them and since its not won by pin you can keep building points up, also you get a lot from high risk and dropping from the x helps.

any ideas if theres any plan to release more wrestlers as downloadables? i.e. mick foley!!!

Ah this is annoying me.

I'm on the second tag team match in Japan.

I'm not familiar with TNA so I dont know their names but I hammer them, have them on red...

Do a finisher in the corner by my partner, pin them 1, 2 and they break it up.

And then they do a **** move on me and pin me 1,2,3 and my partner just doesnt come in.

Every match is the same, I hammer them and then as soon as I'm on orange they pin me.

I had a fairly big reply about this game typed up but I think the post above sums up my frustrations with it. Not to mention the lack of modes and characters.

Got it on rental today and I'm so glad I never bothered buying it. Very poor.

The biggest mistake they made in this game was the lack of moves and character specific moves. If they had nailed this then I think they would have got much better reviews. Also don't understand why the kick-out system does not work very well online. A couple of moves done on you, and then you cant kick out. Because of this I play more ultimate-x matches online.

I think the sequel will be much better if they add more content and moves. I mean I actually love the fighting system they got going on, but the lack of moves messes it all up.

Yeah, part of my original reply was that I think they do have the basis for a solid wrestling game but unfortunately, for me anyway, the faults with it are annoying and really take away from a lot of the good points. Hopefully they won't mess up the sequel as that would be an opportunity missed. I also hope that this will help make the SvR games improve due to added competition, as I wasn't really much of a fan of 08.

Just bring back Nitro or Wrestlemania 2000 from the N64 please :p
