To anyone with a Canon 17-40 L lens

I used to have a 28-135 IS and when I compared it to the 17-40L wide apertures are where the L lens excells. Sharpness on the 28-135 at F3.5 or F4.5 (wide open) is very poor - F8 is close to F4 on the 17-40.

This was taken at F3.5 & 1/10 sec with the 28-135IS. I couldn't have used my 17-40 to take the photo. Although I do prefer using the 17-40, sometimes the IS is as valuable as the L marking :)

Yup - I remember when you entered that in the one of the photo comps last year and I thought it was a good shot that could only be achieved with an IS lens.

SDK, What hood would you recomend to use on the 17 - 40 L on a 1.3x sensor crop?
I'm not sure to be honest.
On 1.3x crop body the 17-40L becomes 22mm at the widest and all the hoods I mentioned above start from 24mm so you might get some vignetting in the corners.
