To DS or not to DS?

Well, i took the dive today and got alovely Black DS Lite :)

Actually ran out to get it near closing time as i skipped out of work early to do so and sort a few other things, so don't actually have any games yet as i didn't want to rush & buy the wrong ones (The shopkeepers body language showed me he'd be closing VERY soon! hehe)

I'm thinking along the line sof one of the brain games, and Trauma Center to start off, and then see where things take me from there! :D

Snap, well almost, my DS is due to arrive first thing in the AM with Hotel Dusk, can't wait :D

Sonic Rush is fun and can be picked up cheap now. Some say it's the best Sonic game ever made.

Its very good, but rather short I found. Superb game though well worth playing through.

Sorry to bump the thread , but i've had my DS lite for less than a year but i cant seem to get hooked playing the poor thing: i buy games for it then play for about an hour...then thats it!

Warrio Ware
Mario Kart
Mario bros
Theme Park
Kashahashmoote brain training ...thing
Worms
Bomber man DS

the only game ive played longest is mario bros due to its mini games , apart from that i've not finished or started most games :o

Most of your games are kind of tailored towards quick bursts though, especially Warioware/Brain Training/Bomberman.

Perhaps try something with a bit more depth to it? Advance Wars, the new Pokemon, Final Fantasy 3, Castlevania, Animal Crossing, Mario & Luigi? All of those are more of the "sit down and play for a few hours" type of game than the likes of Warioware.

Anyone reccomend hotel dusk ? FF 3 was on my list as well as settlers

I certainly can - love it.
Due to recent events I haven't been able to sit down with it for a while.
However the first day I got that game I just couldn't put it down at all.

it's a bit boring tho, if you want a truly gem of a game that everyone under estimates, I suggest you find "Nanostray"

Best shoot'em'up'ever'created'''''

well i had an erge to buy FF 3 today , so going to give that ago! i hope i can get hooked on it

Well I only unboxed my DS about 30mins ago and fired up Hotel Dusk, only stopped to grab some food, looks like it's going to get me hooked!

nice one :) welcome to the DS crew :D , i looked at hotel dusk also i was tempted to get both but my friend has FF3 and i play FFXI online so i had to get it really , the way i thought about hotel dusk is looked on gamespot and watched the in game intro, it looks okay but way too many text boxes to read, id rather watch Marple , or Inspector morse heh :P i don’t know maybe next month ill get it ill have to read more reviews.

i have mario bros, and animal crossing, my gf has played mario bros more than i have , animal crossing ive got bored playing as ive maxed it out :/

I picked up Phoenix Wright today and blamo! hooked. Such a different game from anything I've played, totally love it.

the first one is excellent, the last case is brand new to the DS which just shows what it is capable of.

in the second one there are no cases made to specifically for the DS.

the next one however will be ds only (i think)

Got a Nintendo VIP DS (One of the first in europe). Loved mario kart, then got nintendog but after that it has been gathering dust. Appart from when i went to the states. Was great for passing hours in the plane. I would buy more games for it but it's the price of them that always puts me off. If im looking at the internet or games shop. I might see a DS game that i like but then ten seconds later i see something for the PC/360 and end up buying that ><. DS games should be £15. I seriously doubt the devolpment time of DS games allows it to be basically the same price as 360/PC games.

You'd be surprised.
There are a lot of "DS Exclusives" these are games that are appearing on the DS only.
Where it's x-platform it takes a fair amount of work to get something "shrunk" for the DS - you've only got a finite amount of ROM space.
You can buy a lot of games for around the £20 mark for the DS if you don't mind importing US versions.
Even if you only want to buy the official UK version/release, most can be had for around £25.
At the same time you get a lot of "game for your buck".
Even at £25 on the majority of games you usually find yourself playing it for a long time.
