To hell with natwest

Abbey were great to me er not.

changed over from Barclays, and used the switcher service, all sounded fantastic we will change all yer direct debits from yer old account to yer knew no problem.

great less hassle for me having to phone around everyone and give them the details, fantastic. so a month later about 3 days before payday I get a letter.

Dear memph,

through using the switcher service we have been able to change all of youre direct debits accept for NTL Group (happens to be my Pay)

at this point as it would it dawsns on you. AHHHHHH !!!! I get paid last day of the month and I have direct debits such as mortgage, etc coming out of my bank on the 1-4th of the month. This is never a problem until you switch bank accounts and they are going to go for money that isnt there.

Obviously I thought well fair enough they couldnt change my pay I'll pop down and see if I can arrange a £1000 overdraft for a month while I sort it out to avoid a load of charges.

Into branch speak to counter staff - sorry you'll have to see the Account manager.

Account manager - I see what youre saying Memph it is technically our fault but no you cant have an overdraft, you have to use the branch phone and ring india and ask them.

Ring india - Person does not understan d and tells me my overdraft application will take 7 Days to process.

7 days ! I'll have racked up hundreds of punds in bank charges by then.

back to account manager - sorry yes it is our fault but theres nothing we can do and yes you will have to pay any charges.

Suprisiingly I'm still with Abbey although I wish I wasnt, bunch of muppets. At elast when I was with Barclays for 8 years I could walk in speak to the Account manager and they would increase my ovedraft ont he spot if I ever needed it.

i did this with abbey aswell, pain.

i got charged for a direct debit failure as money wasnt transferred before direct debits.

natwest have always been good to me, its odd that they do something like that.

I just had £88 charges for last month; apparently 2 cheques were paid out which resulted my balance to go over my overdraft (£30 each) as well as the £28 unarranged borrowing fee.

When i spoke to a customer services lady, she told me to always check my bank balance when writing out cheques. I told her that i have so many payments going out, when do i know a cheque is actually being cashed?

they did not want to refund a penny to me. I am very disappointed with Natwest and looking to do something about that soon......
