You've provided too much information.

Please try to make future posts more succinct!

This is my sole desktop hard disk. Samsung SP1614C. Has win7 on it.

My point was I haven't seen write speeds higher than read speeds before... I've never benched it before. I was benching some USB pen drives and for curiosity did my internal drive too.

You'll see this with many Samsung drives (and some others). The F3 for example has insane seq. write speeds in synthetic benchmarks. My VelociRaptor occasionally benches this way too. How well that translates to real world use is another question.

That's a 7 year old drive, speeds are right for the time.
You should be glad it's working at all.

Get an F3 in there STAT.

Lol this reminded me of some of the calls at work "I'm locked out", of what? Your house, your car?! My mind reading skills are improving ;)

I've never had a hard drive fail in the life of the machine :p

I'm planning on moving to SSD if the Patriot firmware is up to snuff. I'll keep the 7 year old still-working-fine Samsung for my small amount (<100gb) of music, films and other assorted junk ;)

The whole reason for the thread was my confusion at seeing it write faster than it reads :p
