To Raid or not to Raid

At the moment i have 2 500gb Seagate 12 7200rpm drive in RAID0.
I am using a external HD for backup and media, but it is getting full so need to change my set up.
After deciding to replace my external drive with an internal one (mainly to clear up clutter around my pc) i then started toying with the idea of replacing all my drives for a non Raid setup.
My thoughts behind this are increased reliabilty, less drives in my pc = less heat and better airflow, and the ability to monitor the hd temps which cannot be done in raid.

So if i were to replace my current setup with 2 Spinpoint F3 (non raid, one primary, one backup / media) would i see any real world performance gain.
I read the review of those drives on bit tech and quite impressed.
Or would you say, keep the raid and just pop a 3rd HD be to Spinpoint or another Seagate 12?

HD tune shows my current setup read benchmark as
min 125.5
max 242.5
average 196
access time 14.1ms
burst 213.9

any advice would be great

My raid0 of 2 x 1TB Samsung F3's give the following result
min 132.5
max 284.9
average 204.5
access time 11.4ms
burst 158.4

Not sure if that is helpful. Was hoping for better real world performance but think I was expecting too much initially.

Have also toyed with idea of running them seperately but too much hassle now. Will probably go for 2TB drives in the next couple of months anyway.
