So, I am a happy 60GB owner and the unit has been trouble free for 2+ yrs (since buying on MM here, actually)....

Thing is, with all the doom and gloom stories around dieing PS3s, I am wondering whether this is a good chance to migrate to the new Slim ? (Especially now, as my toddler feels that the PS3 is her DVD player......the unit is starting to get some serious daily use !)

Bottom line, I never actually use the PS2 compatibility, although do have a couple of PS1 games which I believe play on most PS3s anyway.....but I do like the card reader, as i can play AVCHD files straight from my HD Camcorder.....but then a USB reader would do the same !

Seems that I can manage £180 trade-in against a Slim (and sure that figure won't last long !) so is it worth the £70 outlay......for peace of mind in warranty terms, better 'settled' tech and less power consumption ?

Anyone gone through this process ? How does one go about migrating account(s) - I also have a US account for occasional cheaper purchases etc ;)

Appreciate thoughts....

All good thoughts, thanks :)

Must admit I am erring towards the trade......not really fussed about HDD capacity as I don't store much more than game installs/downloads and saves etc. All other media happily streams over the network from NAS or PCs that are on.....
Power consumption is a driver, I guess - mad electric bills, so every little helps....and the USB ports are unlikely to be an issue (although I do wish there was 1 or more on the rear of these things !)
I guess warranty is key.....and peace of mind thereof - 1yr stated and a good case to argue 2yrs, per EU rules :p

Unfortunately, Continuous Play is no longer accepting new subscribers :( Hopefully Sony will come up with some sort of longer-term warranty.....
Ooooh, decisions, decisions !

Well, thanks for all the posts in here - I have decided to keep my 60Gb PS3.

When all is said and doen, it does work perfectly and has yet to skip a beat. I dolike the card reader and the chrome and shiny bits mean I won't be getting a Slim right now :)

Many thanks
