To upgrade or not to upgrade

Ok, so whilst the old PC is still performing extremely well, even with the recent release of GTA5, sometimes I'm thinking would it benefit from more memory, a better GPU etc. It's regularly dusted/cleaned so no airflow issues in the Storm Scout case.

Currently it stands at:
850w PSU
I7-920 @ 3.2ghz o/c
6gb ram
EVGA GTX770 2gb
The usual spinning HD & DVD drive.

Thoughts are:
1) 12gb ram, would this plug straight in and be ok with the current overclock?
2) GTX 980 or Titan - Would this be pointless and bottlenecked by the CPU & memory.
3) Leave as is and count my blessings that it runs things faultlessly at the moment?

Well i can tell you from experience that the cpu will bottleneck if you get a titan as im facing that problem right now and waiting to upgrade, but an SSD definitely is a good idea for your OS, but if you are upgrading your GPU you should upgrade the CPU with it, so would be a bigger upgrade, personally i would go for an SSD because it also gives benefits to running games, faster loading and a little fps boost sometimes

personally i would go with the ssd but all depends on what you want to be playing/doing :)

Most cost effective upgrade for you at the moment is definitely a SSD. I would get that now and then wait for Skylake towards end of the year for a complete overhaul.

SSD route might get taken, however.... and this might get classed as a stupid question.. I do like the look of a GTX Titan but how do bottlenecks affect performance & how can you tell if it's bottlenecking?! Does my CPU fully rule out getting one of these cards?

All depends on your budget... If you're looking* for just 1 'component' upgrade then an SSD would no doubt do you nicely.

Definitely an SSD you'll notice a world of difference then if you really feel like you need to upgrade right now look into titan x reviews with your cpu (if there are any about) but i'd personally wait to see AMD's new offerings coming out soon.

The drives no problem really, plus there's that many SSD's out now with varying reports/reviews on them you end up like you do when looking at gpu's, cpus etc, lost in a sea of technology! Last time I upgraded was a jump from a GTX285 to the 770 & that made a hell of an improvement. Maybe with this system, it is at it's peak/most stable and changing anything would only start the upgrade avalanche to gather far more speed than the wallet can keep up with!
Lets see how long it takes for GTA5 to burn something out then I'll have to upgrade lol
Thanks for your recommendations :)

Definitely SSD. Listen to the masses! Samsung Evo or Crucial BX - go, go get one now.

More RAM wouldnt make much difference.
Possibly a cheap 970 might work.

Another vote for SSD. Saying a mechanical drive is no problem is like saying a KA is fine when you could take your Ferrari.

Shall keep in mind the SSD idea and maybe hold on the GTX970 until the reviews on the 980ti appear. That GPU might be ok with my CPU perhaps... maybe lol

One of those Xeon cpu's ? A lot of people seem to be doing that with the x58 motherboards . I would be doing the same as I'm on i7 930 @ 4ghz ... but I'm saving for a new system instead as I think my mobo is playing up , don't want to pile any money into it for it to die in next 12 months , plus I want to go micro atx as I fancy one of those evolv cases :)
