Currently have a 1055t at 3.6ghz but its starting to feel a bit long in the tooth. Is it worth going 8350/8320 or waiting to see what amd bring out at the start of the new year.
Should I possibly...possibly even wait for the next intel offering? £300 would be rough budget for card and mobo.
Mostly playin bf4 and rome 2 but looking forward to elder scrolls!

All AMD have coming out next year at this rate is Kaveri.
All Intel has is a Haswell refresh, there's noise about broadwell, but who knows.

I'd just buy something now, or depending what board you have, the FX8320 for price/performance.

Get an FX8320 and spend the money on a good gfx.
Getting new AM3+ is pointless since is dead socket. As are all Intel sockets also.

Ofc with your budget you can get a Z87 & a 4670, if you have good gpu.
(of a 4770/4771)

The difference between a 4770 and 4770K is like 10-15 pound :p

It'd cost about 330-340 for a 4770K and Z87 board tbh.

If I was willing to spend the money, I'd jump onto the 4770K and board.

But it's impossible to argue against the value of a 110 quid FX8320 as an upgrade.

I'm in the same position Dis, just seems like not a great time to be buying a new cpu at the moment. Head definitely says wait and save the money but heart really wants a new toy to play with :)

If Mantle is as good as it promises to be then the 8320 could, theoretically, last you bloody years.

Why not wait until DICE release the Mantle patch for BF4 and see how it is?

Good choice ;)
Not sure whether its cost efficient

Let's face it. High end top notch overclocking boards are never, ever cost efficient. You don't buy them based on performance to the pound you buy them because you want to play with them.

.

That's a very good point.

Nails, new toys ftw!

I'd wait it out for when the intel series 9 chipsets that's what I'm doing and will be upgrading from a i920. I only play bf4 and with mantle coming out soon it should play even better. Can't believe how long I've had my CPU it's definitely the best CPU I've ever owned. Still works great with my 7970's in x fire.

If you wait it out for the series 9 chipsets you can have a newer haswell chip plus you'll be able to upgrade to broadwell too.
