I'm quite keen on purchasing a Wii and have noticed that most places are currently sold out in the UK.

I'm currently in New Zealand, where they're freely available from any EBGames store you walk into, for around $399NZ. Would it be worthwhile purchasing one of these consoles from over here, or am I likely to have trouble with the region coding when I bring the thing back to the UK?

Thanks for any help / advice. :)

i wouldn't bother, by the time you are back they'll be filled on the shelves. You are not making savings, there's risk of tax (even if you didn't bring the box back, how are you going to argue in customs !). My local shops are getting regular deliveries everyweek, the reason it is selling out is because demands is still quite high. But when those people have got theirs, it'll be everywhere.

not sure how much that converts to... but isn't NZ the same region as us ? PAL and all that ?

Yeah they're on PAL, as are the Aussies. I've known people to import games from Australia as they were released earlier there (no translations needed, where we have 5in1 discs...).

They get different VC games though it seems, as the NZers were the ones who were region hopping to get our VC games. Can't do it now on 2.1E though.

Was going to say this - it's the best reason not to bother, imo.

I'd imagine the current distribution issues will be resolved by the time you're back, so you shouldn't have any issues getting hold of one.
