Toast. How do u like yours?

White thick bread toasted dark golden brown, crispy on the outside soft on the inside. Marmite, Honey or Jam, no butter or spread. If I am being very indulgent then blackcurrant jam and strong cheddar cheese....yum.

For Toast with Paté: White bread toasted lightly then slice off the crusts. Slide a knife through the toast so that you have two very thin pieces. Toast the untoasted sides and cover with yummy Paté.
 
Thin bread, butter, left to cool slightly so its not soggy.

Also I find it tastes far better in an evening and not first thing in a morning.
 
I'm fussy. Has to be white bread for toast and brown bread for sarnies. Can't stand it the other way around. Also, I find the best toasting bread is usually the cheapo supermarket own brand stuff like Tesco Value. Sometimes I like toast with just butter, sometimes a bit of butter and lots of strawberry jam. The wife likes butter, cinnamon and sugar (darn yanks...). A little tip: A great cure for a headache is to take a pain killer and then eat a slice of peanut butter toast. I don't know why, but it always works for me. My wife put me onto that - at first I thought she was mad.....but it works I tells ya!

Also, why is it when you make toast for yourself it doesn't really smell of anything, but when somebody else is making it, my god, you can smell it from miles away and you start salivating?! :p

I only like "Hotel toast":

Medium white, toasted to a medium brown, then left to go stone cold.

After it's cold, spread with lumps of rock-hard salty butter.

Slightly burnt and loads of bramble jam, licks lips and goes away to make some :D

Now and again cheese in between 2 slices of jammed up toast :D

Get the thickest slice of brown bread u can get, stick them in the toaster, medium heat, as soon as it pops that very second take it out and whack on the butter and let it melt. Then apply a generous dollop of marmalade to each slice.

Now spread !

Cant believe nobody has mentioned Nutella yet :O Nice thick slice of fresh bakers bread slightly toasted with a nice spread of Nutella on the top…..mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Any bakers open at 1:30am? I’m hank marvin now. Damn this toast talk
 
Toasted until golden brown, then allowed to cool before the butter goes on. Nothing on top.

I'd prefer a toasted bagel with Bavarian ham and extra strong cheddar though.
