To be honest I only do my toasties or croque monsieur on the hob these days but I imagine a foreman type grill would do a good job.
it doesn't need to be that hot. I don't butter the bread, just chuck a knob in the pan instead. I also just fry the sandwich whole on each side (rather than separate like he did). Very quick and easy. You get a nice melt as long as you get the temp right. Calorific, yes. It is molten cheese!Favreaus sandwich looks good, albeit calorific,
currently don't have a gas hob though for the BTU's, he's getting some significant heat into it to melt the cheese - where can you get that plate
