any members of toastmasters?

i'm thinking of joining toastmasters to improve my public speaking skills. specifically i'd like to be be better at thinking on my feet, as currently i'm pretty hopeless at clearly conveying concepts, or my opinions to others verbally.

is there anyone here who is a member of a toastmasters club, or was previously a member. is there any relevant experience that you've had with the club that would be worth me knowing?

I spent several years as a Hotel Manager and was asked many times if I would be the Toastmaster for the bride & groom for their wedding breakfast.

It was always an honor to do it. Although I was never taught professionaly, I was given a quick pep talk by one who did it for a living.

I was always very clearly spoken and loved banging the big spoon on the end of the top table to get everyones attention. In weddings, a toastmaster basically calls everyone to the Restaurant for their meal, announces in order who does the speeches and at the very end toasts the bride & groom.

Its a good laugh and always scores with the wedding reception single beauties at the end of the night ;)
