Today I have been mainly playing........Bioshock

Only console games FORCE you to use Certain weapons to kill Certain monsters and HL2 fell victim to this in such a bad way - Having to kill striders with rockes only was utter pants.

Imagine HL2 was real.
Imagine there was a Strider walking down the street.

In your left hand you have a sub machine gun.
In your right hand you have a rocket propelled grenade launcher.

Are you telling me you'd give it a go with the SMG, just for some variation?

Bioshock, well i had a mix bag of feelings with this game.

Graphics where pretty average and sometimes felt like it was made in 2006. Sometimes the characters had this glow around them, i remember the part with Ryan, he seemed to have a purple glow around him at some point. Playing in Dx10 the water didnt look good at all, when you come out the plane it looked like molten silver and then intside the complex, it looked average, the way it reacted to the enviroment was well made though.

The story and the way its told are interesting but half the time i couldn't hear the diary entries. If you side tracked of the main route and went in other rooms, you'd pick up diary entries you needed for the main quest and you couldn't re access them to remind your self of what they said. Example of this was when you had to get the paperazzi guys dairy for the lift and i got it couples of hours before i went into the lift and forgot the code, no way to go back and check the dairy, so i had to get a walkthrough.

The enviroments looked great, but i started to get annoyed because i kept getting lost and with so many "choices" of rooms and pathways i sometimes got completely side tracked checking out room number 200 that i realsed i shouldnt even be there yet until a later part of that quest, cleared the room and it ended up me running around empty rooms.

I've stopped playing it for a while, i feel completing it without a break is far to draining. Given the obvious great things and bad things about this game, it didnt grab me like Half Life 2 did.

Alright game, nothing special sadly.

I'm hardly a child, I just think its rubbish. Life's to short for me to get philosophical about the merits of a particular game.

I just think its rubbish.

You obviously take games very seriously so I apologies if I offended you with my opinion.

I didnt like anything about it....

'would you please' go into further details for us? ;)

:p

I loved System Shock but thought Bioshock was really dull and boring. Nothing about the game captured my imagination and I found I couldn't play it for more than half an hour at a time without getting bored.

It's linear, you respawn without consequence, the enemies are easy to kill.

I just don't like the "corridor style" mainly. I mean you go forward a few corridors, shoot some mutant thingy in the head, grab a key, back track, open door..... forward...... yawn.

I think its me tbh, as I get older I just find a lot of games boring now. I think its a case of "been there, done that and got the T-Shirt." I find myself playing less and less. I think this is my last winter of gaming. I think next spring my comp gets formatted and I then soley use linux.

I did enjoy CoD4 SP though, and Warhead, FEAR, HL2 before that.

oh yeh and BF2, TF2, CoD2, CSS MP before that. CoD4 MP was ruined by choppers, airstrikes and ghey perks.

No, but once I ran out of RPG rounds i'd like the choice of using the SMG or Grenades or anything else I had on me, hell, I just wished theys give you barbed wire you could use to tangle its feet up then lob a grenade at it, or atleast to use the grav gun on it. But no, lets just limit everyone to RPG rounds. BORING. HL2 was one of those games that promised so much but actualy gave you so little instead, Crap AI and typical horrid scripting. If you take a look at the Strider/Cinema scene you get a sence that its not scripted at all.

For those guys saying it was too easy, turn off the respawn tube thing, crank up the difficulty and play again, becomes a whole lot tougher.

For me this is a fantastic game, have been playing it for about 2/3 weeks now, few hours here and there. Hasn't been a game in years with this kind of originality in design and story, nice tweak on a typical fps shooter style with the plasmids too.
