I spent a good hour in shock at the numbers.. it's a detached, 4 bedroom, with the usual garden & garage etc. He accepted, the house is being taken off the market.. so now it's all the stresses and strains before we exchange. Luckily I have no chain being a first time buyer.

It's really my last attempt to get into the property market after spending nearly 15 years chasing the ladder but never being able to get on the first rung.

Not quite the £15M 15,000 sq foot houses I've seen around Weybridge but to me it's pretty much as valuable.

Fingers crossed :)

I don't get how you can spend 15 years trying to get onto the property ladder then your first property is a 4 bed detached in Weybridge?

I'd imagine because as quickly as he built up a deposit, his life circumstances changed and as such his requirements for a property grew.

Although there me be circumstances surrounding it, I cant help but LOL at the "first house" being a 4 bed detached. 1 Bed cottage flat here :o

It's fairly easy to be in the position of your first house being as above.

We've only just purchased our first house, it's also a 4 bedroom detached with a double garage and some land.

Simply due to work locations and the fact we're going to start a family as soon as we've settled in the new house, we skipped the starter home etc and went straight for the family home. The fact we rented the last 4 years left us in the position that we earn enough to have only a 20 year mortage that doesn't stretch us, with a sizeable deposit we saved.

edit:

Congrats we well! Welcome to the fun or surverys, solicitors and the rest of the fun that comes with house buying.

St George's Hill is a different world. I read today that Elmbridge pays more income tax than the likes of Glasgow and Newcastle.....

We keep looking at Weybridge for the schools but we are settled in Walton now.

Ahh - sorry, just got back to this :D ..seems to be blown out of proportion! No it's not in Weybridge but we did look at Walton and other areas before settling further out due to what you you get and area. Sorry - it's not near the figures mentioned here.

I'm not posting images or location for security but it's near Ascot/Bracknell.

It's a nice area, I've got mates living near Winkfield Row.
