2004 Subaru Impreza WRX :D

I've been looking forward to this for a while now...some of you may know of my "slight" Scooby obsession lol.

Anyway, arrived at the dealer on time and I was shown around the car, the interior I liked, no amazing gadgets, just what you need and where you want it.

Sitting in it the seats felt very comfortable, shouldn't prove a problem on long distance journeys.

anyway, I explained to the guy I will not be buying today but want to see what the car can do, he smiled and said sure, he couldn't of been older than 25.

So we got in and easily pulled off, the steering felt great, engine burble was lovely. We drove around town casually for 15 minutes to warm the sucker up and for me to get used to the clutch, brakes etc, I loved the feel of the suspension.

He then directed me towards some local back roads and said he knew them very well and said

"When I say so, plant it and keep your foot down"
"are you sure?"
"yes, trust me, your going to love it"

I mean, who was I to complain? :p

anyway, following more twistys I slowed down for a very sharp (almost hairpin) corner, nearly had to stop going around it, and it opened to a 2 miles dead straight strectch of lovely warm tarmac, I didn't need telling considering the dealer had just opened the rear windows for the exhaust note, and my god it was AWSOME :D

The acceleration was just great, really really really loved it, got to about 80 before I backed off, he then led me to lots of twistys and showed how much grip the car really has when pushing it round corners, the seat held me perfectly, not an ounce of discomfort, feedback in the steering was good as well. Needless to say I was very impressed.

I loved everything about the car, exterior looks are awesome, sounds good, goes like hot **** off a shovel, handles good.

The only thing I didn't like about it was when inside, even though you have plenty of room it does feel a little small compared to what it looks like on the outside, but that wouldn't put me off buying one.

On the whole I liked it A LOT the dealer was very helpful, knew the car inside and out and said if I wanted I could go back later in the week and he would take me out in one with PPP.

Said I'd give him a ring a week on Monday, unfortunately for him, I won't be buying it, but I now want one even more and was truely a great experience.

Next up is a BMW 330ci tomorrow! :)

How come every test drive you've had they've said something cheesy like that, they never say that stuff to me, they just bang on about Supa Guard, finance, and warranties :p

Because you smell funny? :p

I dunno, the guy knew I wasn't going to buy it, I told him that from the straight off and I did say "I want to see what it can do"

plus the guy probably got as much of a buzz out of it as I did :D

In all seriousness, glad you liked it. I think you'll find when you drive the 330i tomorrow you will think it's slower due to the way it feels. But they're actually quite equal in a straight line - so just bare that in mind when driving it tomorrow, because the acceleration "kick" in a Scooby will be making it feel faster than it is :)

How are you test driving cars like that at your age!:p

By asking for one? :p

Seriously, that's it, why shouldn't they? their insurance covered me, for all they knew I could have had 10k on me and was going to buy it there and then.

Indeed :)

When PMKeates took me out in his and showed me how to bend the laws of physics, as nice as it was it wasn't the same kick as the Scooby gave me.

Will still drive one though :) I mean, it might convert me to a blue and white propeller :p

He lives in Essex?

I'm seriously tempted to go for a 2005 WRX (with the slightly updated dash) as a next car, would need PPP or something though :)

Got my folks 2.5 WRX to borrow next weekend for a bit so will have a blast around in that to see how I like it.
