You can just over clock the nuts off it to 7970 or so speeds anyway, I never look at stock speeds now.
Out of interest, what speeds could you achieve by overclocking such a 7950 card?

1Gb seems not to affect things at 1080p

With a 2gb 6950 MSI afterburner reports 1.7GB of g-ram use with serious sam 3 on ultra, 1.2-1.4gb with gtaIV on high, 1.3gb with metro 2033 on high (all these are with 40-60fps). There are plenty of games which use less than 1gb, depends what you want to play really but can't hurt to have more

Good price on the 7950, it's a week too early though for me. Hopefully it'll appear back on offer or the msi will go offer closer to date

That's a fair point but all of the games you have listed are over a year old if not older.
I ran a hd5770 1gig on BF3 it looked ok but the FPS weren't that impressive compared to the 7850 2gig card.
I know there's also a performance boost with the chips etc, but i think 2gig card makes a big difference.
With most new games coming out they will make use of the extra ram.

The webstore won't let me order 2 cards for xfire. Keeps telling me
You've got free delivery so just do 2 separate orders. I've done this before a few times on "Today Only" deals and they have come through fine.
