GX-144-GW_400.jpg

The world's fastest GPU has arrived with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580. Experience blockbuster games like Call of Duty®: Black Ops and Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X® 2 in their full glory with everything cranked to the max. Not only does the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 rip through the latest games, it also runs quieter than the previous generation. And as you have come to expect from the GeForce GTX GPU, the GTX 580 packs support for all the premium GTX gaming technologies such as NVIDIA Surround, 3D Vision, PhysX and SLI. With all these features and more, it is easy to see how the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 obliterates the competition.

Instead of fans on its obverse side blowing air onto the PCB, there are three fans on its reverse side, drawing air from the aluminum fin array, and onto the PCB. The PCB also seems to be a non-reference design.

"The world's fastest GPU has arrived with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580"

I thought that title was owned by the nVidia Geforce GTX 690 at the moment?

Must be old blurb that was originally supplied when the card was first released.

Maybe that bit should be edited out of the post as some lesser informed members may get the wrong idea lol

Pesfan or am I imagining things and yeah 690 it is. Just using the old description for the product.

Certainly not the worlds fastest GPU anymore!

And talking about this particular card they never really were back then either. Gainward are infamous for not cherry picking their chips like MSI and other companies do (and generally dont get as good chips as other companies for some reason) you had as much chance of clocking high with a reference gainward as the Phantom. The MSI Lightning Extreme was the best. Phantoms just look cool.

580s held their price because 680s came in at such a stupid price...

Temptation to buy that Phantom is very strong though... Same price as a 1.5GB...

Damnit... :(

Phoned up the gf... Apparently I can't spend money that I'm not going to earn for another two months :(

Calling her was the obvious mistake in that plan :D

Mine tends to go like, "hey would you be mad if I just bought myself a new graphics card?"
"Uh yes"
"Oh, prepare to get mad, it arrives tomorrow"

:D

someone will be sleeping on the couch

Wow under the thumb much, I would never ask my gf what I can spend my money on lol.

Anyways if your spending £300 a GTX 670 would be a better choice...

Not for me it wouldn't.

I even have an entire thread in GC's about it...

Also, do you really think that if I really wanted to spend the money I couldn't? Oh how naive....

Still for the life of me don't know why, with those gorgeous looking heat-pipes, Gainward decided to put them on the side you'll never see in a windowed case.
