been ati for so long got lost with nvidia product naming

why is everyone raving about the 460 and (seemingly) ignoring the 470 - on this forum?Solely to do with price difference (ie performance diff doesnt seem to justify the little price increase between the two ranges) or more to it than that?

I did notice the 470 has a lower clocked core than the 460, but with it being a different core its difficult to tell how relevant that is

I'm not sure about this but I think it may also be that the 460 is a lot quieter than the 470 as higher end nvidia cards tend to be louder than the ATI's. Don't quote me on that though

What power supply would you need for 2 470's in SLI. I currently have a Corsair HX1000 with an i7 at 4.0. Would it be enough?

Tempting to give the GTX470 a try but with the 6 series just around the corner...

I can tell you now the 6 series launching in coming 3 weeks won't outperform a GTX 470, might come close but not faster and probably not much cheaper if at all.

That sounds disappointing for those of us waiting for 6*** series, I hope you are wrong, because if you aren't I will be sticking with my 5850.:(

Your gonna be sticking with your 5850!

Though in mid November there will be some faster ATI cards launching, then you might upgrade but those will be a pretty penny too.

sounds like someone at ocuk has had a sneaky play with a 6xxx card.....

Nope, its just ATI/AMD are releasing the lower spec cards first, before the enthusiast variety towards the end of the year/start of next.

It was mentioned in a few articles recently. Low end 6*** isnt likely to beat high end current gen, hence why 470 won't be beaten.

It'll be mid-November then! ;)

I think you've had enough of my money in the past 24 hours...
