TODAY ONLY DEALS - 19/08/2010 - Samsung & Intel!

To be fair its only a day to wait for it to be normal again :p Just a bit annoying seeing a really good deal then realising its not actually any better, infact worse than usual

............ But it is really only 'worse' because every other day we get a better deal as forum members! I'd be happy to wait 24 hours.

It is a bit odd to offer something up as a 1 day special to people when it makes it more expensive than if they bought it on one of the other 364 days of the year.

Its not, its actually to cheaper to someone like yourself as you don't get free shipping due to your post activity. ;)

You missed my point. I just said that its only 24 hours to wait before it goes back to the 'cheaper' price, but the problem is seeing a special price which makes someone want to buy it (aka me) then realising its not actually a deal and in truth costs more than normal.
Seems silly when the 80% of non forum members who this deal helps will more than likely not see this post whereas the 20% of people who do have no point in buying it for more.

............. I think we're both actually agreed, it is a mild irritation - made worse on a Thursday when waiting 24hours makes it a next week delivery.

It's not only that .... These are impulse buys, I woke up this morning happy as a fiddle - A need for a 1.5Tb drive was far from my mind.

!!! THEN I SAW THIS THREAD !!!

Wow that sounds great, convincing myself that I needed it and that's where my problems started.

Having failed at OcUK I decided to walk to the dark side and found a bargain at someone's ex-employers place but I needed free shipping too :D

A quick coupon search here and there and I ended up on some grubby looking forum - reading into further they too don't offer free shipping on deals to their members.

Moral of the story ?

' I DIDN'T/DON'T need a 1.5Tb drive '

or do I ? :(

I completely agree. although not having enough count to get free shipping I can see why this can cause so much fustration. at the end of the day it's the power of marketing and if you REALLY NEED this then wait a day (point taken about the extra weekend wait).

so here i am... do i need this... i will think about this on company time, it seems only fair :D

What amazing ocuk deal lately actually has been AMAZING?

I remember `this week only` in the good old days, where you'd actually get some proper, cheap bargains and you kept clicking on refresh at just so you could see what's good this week.

Deals nowdays are mostly just there to match the prices on other sites...

Price dominates purchasing decisions these days and loyalty doesn't count for much with most people.

I find that with the free shipping ocuk manages to be on par with competitors or one or two quid less.

It is true that a year or go ocuk had some good headway against competition that now seems to have been lost with their expansion.
