TODAY ONLY - MONITORS!

Warranty and aftersales support, yeah you've got it right there but you're completely wrong on the quality front. The displays themselves are very high quality, they use the same panels as the Dell 27" ones after all.

Yes they use the same panels, but what grade? When buying panels at factory level there is different grades, Dell/Asus will choose to take the best, hence little to no chance of dead/stuck pixels.

The panel is only one component of a monitor, what about the PCB, controller board, PSU, some monitors are cheaper because they use lower quality items such as these. Then there is the construction, I'm sorry but not even Hazro or DGM come close to the fit and finish of a Dell or high-end Asus monitor. These cheap ones from Korea certainly do not. The only similarity is the panel they use, but it ends there. Yes they are a bargain and lovely screens, but the overall quality, support is not the same.

Although its a voucher deal you can get the Dell 27" for less than £400 direct from Dell.

Thanks so point is the Dell is typically above £400, it's only below right now due to a deal, no doubt time limited. :)

The typically price is above £400 so my point stands a decent branded 1440P monitor will cost you north of £400 unless someone is doing a very good deal and the DELL at sub £400 is epic. The cheap Korean ones don't even come close to Dell in overall fit/finish quality and components used and Dell warranty is superb.

Why are monitors so expensive :(

It's a bargain, we can't do that price and my advice to people is buy them, because the Dell is right up there with Asus and Samsung when it comes to quality and I'm sorry to say but these cheap Korean imports do not compare.

Yeh I know, just talking in general not any specific ones, monitors are expensive (for a reason i guess :P)
Still debating about getting the DELL on offer....

Panel grade is on a batch basis. It doesn't actually mean the panel itself is faulty or other panels are "better". A lower grade panel isn't more prone to faults or dead pixels. They simply take a selection out of a batch and quality rate it, if a certain percentage of that batch meets the requirements for say an A+ panel, the batch will be listed as "A+". It doesn't mean that panels within that batch will no develop faults, dead/stuck pixels or anything like that, and the same applies to batches listed as A-.

I've got 3 Korean monitors and the quality of the panels is what I'd expect from a high end monitor.

I have 3 high end dell panels too, the enclosure quality is nicer yeah, USB ports and memory card readers, but it's not worth the price premium just because of that. The enclosure is "nicer" but build quality isn't really "higher" they just have more features.

As I've said, the after sales support is definitely a big difference but on a product versus product basis there's very little in it.

Got my new Asus 27" today great shipping in time for Christmas but find I am now going to have to go out and find some sort of power adapter as the power plug that came with it looks American or European some two pin thing. I assume the power plug should have been a UK one?

Looks European from what I can tell and no idea what adapter this needs damn this is annoying so close.

Edit looks like this Damn plug

Ooooh a shaver plug, haven't seen one of those since my German speakers.
Or is it a European, I can never tell :D
Anyways they have to legally provide the correct adapter / plug.

I was reading this thread with interest - no intention of buying, merely soaking-up the knowledge - when I hit this:

How on earth can this be ? When considering a 'Bargain of the Day / week' purchase from OC, do we have to second-guess the catch ? Bizarre, to say the least.

Never mind the Monitor.

 Bang & Olufsen Speakers  been a while now but I used to love the Hi Fi sound systems they produced. Puka stuff that was IMO

Finally got round to fitting my Asus VN247H and I'm very impressed. bright, clear, no stuck pixels at all and it's not as big a jump from my 22" as I was expecting. I'll try some games later on. :)

No haribo, but the monitor shipped in it's own box. Twice now no haribo! :(

They're only small, doubt they do too much. That said the beosound 8 is absolutely sublime. So it wouldn't surprise me if they create a wonderful sound, even if not hugely powerful.

Questions for any MX279H owners...
Can you turn speakers off, and is off setting remembered after monitor is turned off at walk socket?

Anyone with a power socket meter reader able to take reading with speakers off and speakers on?

While I had it on (returned today as faulty) the speakers where set to off with the on board memory saving that setting when I turned it off and on at plug it remembered it but that's only for a few seconds.
