Well 5870 was slightly faster than a 4870X2. The 6950 is faster than a 5870.
The 6950 however I dont think will be able to claw up the deifference from that additional 4870.
Look on the bright side, its single GPU so perfoance is consistant and it has 2GB on one GPU rather than 1GB per GPU in that other set up.
My gut would say the 3 gpus would produce higher max FPS, potentially higher average FPS but much lower minimums so a 6950 will feel faster even if its slightly slower.
