All these antique programs on tv got me thinking, what are the things we have today that will be considered antiques and valuable in decades to come?

Is it the technology we have? Time pieces? Ornaments? Toy collectables?

Just wondering what other people think is worth hanging onto that some of us might have in our homes?

Cheers.

Stalker Coins.

It might be that due to the rapid progression in technology and mass production that the antiques market in the future will be very different to what it is now.

I'm not so sure. Things that are well made, by well known and respected persons and of limited runs will hold thier value well (generally). This includes your tables, your chairs and such like as well as the more traditional art pieces.
I wouldn't be keeping your PS3 in pristine condition and never taking it out of the box though, there isn't going to be any money in that.

I have some series 1 pokemon cards, should I hang onto them?

Strangely enough yes these probably are worth keeping. Small in size so easily stored and ones in good condition will be rare. It was a starting point for a long term craze and more likely to have collectors willing to pay than say a PS3.

Old servers, PC parts will no doubt be valuable one day just like Atari ST's and ZX81's.

It always slightly annoys me that packaged collectibles are worth more because some sad git knew it would be worth something one day.

Comic books, cartoon and film toys from shows long since past (like transformers, thundercats, star wars ect which already sell for a healthy amount). Classic technology which is defined as rare might also become very sought after. A console like sega's dreamcast could be worth a fortune in 50 years to a collector.

Those are the things I think will sell for a decent amount, however items which are somehow linked to people linked in recent and past scandals could potentially be a real money earner if you think that in 50 years we'll probably have biographies looking back on tiger woods, bill clinton, barak obama (not scandal, but first black president) and many many more like that.

The thing I think which will be one of the most expensive antiques in say 50 years will be the original copies of the harry potter books.
