It's the flight from Toulouse to London City on an A318, which is not one of the types that normally serves LCY.

It carried out it's first flight today. Airbus wanted it kept quiet and there weren't many people there because nobody knew.

Hmm, I had confused the A319 with A318 and thought it was just an unusual type that landed at LCY. Didn't know it was an entirely new aircraft!
Hope A318 has better operating cost than the A319... which was not overly successful apparently due to the high operating cost compared to competing types. A319 always looks very odd, because the fuselage is short so it looks like a flying cocktail sausage with wings
By comparison, B757 looks like a frankfurter with wings

When I say first flight, I meant first flight of any Airbus into City. The A318 is already in airline service.

Arghh! I'm getting it all mixed up! The fact that the aircraft was in Airbus livery threw me off even further.
So, it's just the certification process to fly to LCY, then? Or has that already been done?

Im looking forward to the A380 flyby at heathrow myself, booked the day off work and will be taking my Canon 20D kit with me to hopefully get some decent shots of it.
