Tokyo Olympics 2020

I think it's pretty disgusting that lame horses / horses with issues that make them unfit for any other true competition can be thrown into an Olympic setting and expected to perform these jumps with a stranger, with only 20 minutes of contact time. I truly wonder just how much a "skill" this is for the rider.

The horses are all superb showjumping horses, very well trained to the highest of levels.

They know exactly what to do, under the control of a rider who shows no nerves , or lack of confidence, or any other negative vibes the horse will immediately pickup on.

Obviously as she was leading into the showjumping round Annika Schleu had the most public of the dusrupted rounds, however 15 other competitors also had horses refusing to jump fences, or throwing their riders off, or miss behaving in other ways, causing the competitors to rack up a lot of faults, or get eliminated from that discipline.

This happens at every Modern Pentathlon event, anywhere in the world, so is nothing new, and has been a major part of the event since day one.

the rider's almost doing some MMA ground and pound to the difficult horse and the coach just taps it on the bum :p...looks like she was trying to do it without being noticed so prob more she wasn't meant to touch it at all rather than assaulting it!

I know sweet FA about boxing but apparently the girl boxing tomorrow has already beat the toughest opponent in the semis and the final should be easier(??).

Then we have soon to be Dame Laura Kenny in the omnium - an event she has won at the last 2 Olympics. No pressure. :p

In the games now, Baseball. Baseball! Who the flurking shnit plays baseball other than the yanks and the japanese? How many countries play cricket? More than those two.

In other news Karate is in these games and then out again at the next its been dropped. I can think of more than a few things that could do with dropping instead.

There's 3 or 4 gold medals up for grabs in cycling tomorrow, GB have a good chance of taking them all!

3 events and we have no competitors in one of them - Katy Marchant has been knocked out of the women's sprint already.

I'm not particularly confident about Jason or Jack Carlin winning the keirin. I'd love to be wrong but I'd expect that dutch guy Lavreysen to win it. The best chance is Laura in the omnium.

I’d expect a bronze in the men’s keirin and a gold in the women’s omnium. The omnium used to be a real lottery but with it being so heavily weighted towards the points race now I’d expect it to go to form.
