hey guys the tomahawk seems to be out of stock every where and im wondering if gigabyte has one that is roughly equivalent, partly for dual bios and the uk rma incase something goes wrong :)

i would be buying a 2700x to put in it as well and using my existing ddr4 kingston hyper x fury 3200 memory.

any ideas on what board to get?

edit:
not limited to gigabyte ones though, any equivalent boards so i can get a good idea off what to buy :)

Gigabyte X570 (any)
Asus B450-E Strix (in stock in a couple of places)
MSI B450 Pro Carbon (in stock in a few places)

Think any of those would be your best bet. Not sure about budget so mentioned X570. The latter two are also more expensive than the Tomahawk but not as much. You'd get WiFi and an extra M.2 slot over the Tomahawk's single M.2, at least.

kool thanks :) my budget is a bit limited say around 100 quid but a bit flexible, been looking at heat sinks as well.

for some reason the Raijintek Themis Evo Professional CPU Cooler is 10 quid more than i paid for it in 2016, cannae rip my current one out as im giving my dad this board and cpu etc :)

been an awsome cooler for my 6600k but the price is jacked up by a tenner :(

on the plus side artic silver 5 is a pound cheaper lol

Well, the B450 Pro Carbon is back in stock today till it flies out again. :)

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £130.49 (includes shipping: £10.50)

For paste you could now try the improved Arctic MX4 if you want:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £19.18 (includes shipping: £8.70)

There's also Noctua NH-H2 (expensive and won't offer much if anything more). And Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut (also expensive and can scratch the CPU IHS and cooler surface depending on your luck).

Oh yeah and whatever cooler you plan on using, make sure it has mounting for AM4 socket. This is a good one if you don't want to spend much, not to tall, clears RAM slots:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £38.69 (includes shipping: £8.70)

Msi tomahawk max
Msi pro carbon
Msi mortar max

These are the best b450 boards, I heard b550 was coming in January so depends on how much of a rush you are in.

it would be january when i can get a ryzen and mb, at the moment im going for the carbon, guess ill see how much money i have and if the magical b550 ones appear :)

current pc isn't a slouch, it does need more cores and threads though :)

gigabyte g1 sniper z170
6600k stock
16 gig kingston hyperx fury black 3200 not running at full speed only on 1447 mhz
sapphire pulse 5700

dad is going to get this main board and cpu plus a spare 8 gig kit of ddr4 also kingston hyperx but 2666 when i do upgrade, he is still on a phenom II 955 but he has my old rx 480 which pairs good with the 6600k :)

yep i think thats my best choice as well :)

GIgabyte X570 UD comes in at £140 - about £40 increase over the Toma Max . difference in VRM is great though along with pcie 4.0 support

Ive just orders the msi tomahawk for use with ryzen 5 3600x and rx5700xt....have i made a good choice do you think?

be killer, personally would push for Carbon with VRM design tweak ( they are the same but not ) and wifi

should do you well. Carbon is worth it if thinking of 12/16 core Zen2/3 in the future due to the tweak of VRM design .

rig should fly!

On this subject - I have also read the B450M Mortar is a good board, and has some benefits over the Tomahawk. I will of course do some research but would appreciate any advice on the best MB at this price range to pair with a Ryzen 3600 / GTX 1660 S / 16GB ram.

Thanks
