Great moon pic :)

I have a 10D and a Meade 8inch LX90, but it has been packed away for about 6 months now due to house renovations. Roll on spring time when everything is complete.

Richie.

That looks really good. Well I think it's a nice picture but I don't know that much about photographs tbh :)

Thats really good for handheld! How did you get it so crisp?

Well the shutter speed is fairly high, and the lens has image stablisation, so it helps.

Was sharpened in Rawshooter to.

Nice shot, especially since it was handheld. Hope you don't mind, but I thought it might look better with a slight levels tweak:

No its ok, yes ive been playing around with the levels, i can play around to much though.

I noticed the moon was huge tonight, shame I was staring out the window in the gym, and now I'm too tired to do anything :(

Aparently the moon is always the same size in the sky, it just seems like its bigger when it's lower in the sky and closer to the horizon as there is something to use to give it some sense of scale... or something :p

Nice picture though, I tried using a tripod and a telescope, I found it pretty tricky. Is the picture a crop, or just resized?

Its a crop ,but a 100% one. So its the true size.

Cool pic :) I think AdWright's version is a tad too far ... but only a tad :)

[PEDANT]Actually the moons orbit is eliptical so it will appear to be bigger sometimes :o [/PEDANT]

Sorry, but this isn't quite correct. The moon has an eliptical orbit and it's distance veries by up to 14%. At it's closest approach, it does appear to be bigger when it is still high in the sky.

What you say though is also correct, for some reason, when the moon is close to the horizon, it does appear to be larger. When it's on the horizon at a close apporach, it looks the largest (obviously).
