Hey guys, I'm debating whether to take the plunge and put together a new computer system for myself, problem is that so much has changed since I built my current computer (Athlon XP 2200+ lol ) that I'm finding it hard to catch up, and I don't have much time left before uni.

The PC runs things "all right", but its really showing its age and I can't play the new games like prey etc at enjoyable settings.

Was wondering if any nice guys over here could put together a few example specs I could look at, and possibly purchase for around £500, which isn't as loud as my current one (TT volcano 9 lol ). I COULD stretch to around £600 but it really depends on how "future-proof" it would make it. The only thing really to salvage from the old system is the Pioneer dvr-110 dvd writer.

I play a lot of games so if the spec could be biased toward performance, I would be grateful.

Thanks in advance.

I assume you can use your old KB, mouse + case. £616, but very well spent if you ask me :p

to fund this mate....

you can always sell your old pc in bits on the bay....

you will be amzaed at the stuff some people will buy.... :)....

cheers :)

Trojan has got a nice system there. It would be futureproof as the DS3 will handle any core 2 duo, and PCI-E obviously.

Welcome to the forums, I can't see you getting much better than trojan698's specification for the money, I'm not personally a huge fan of Hiper's PSUs as I think there is better quality out there but it should be fine for most purposes :)
