Too old for gaming?

Maybe 20+ years ago and you're in your 30's playing sonic then yes maybe, but today's games are much more complex and movie like so it adds a layer of sophistication. Times have changed, but the attitudes or opinions of the ignorant have not caught up, they're all to wrapped up in their soaps to realise.

Never too old for gaming, back in the day I used to fly on-line regularly with a couple of retired WWII Lancaster bomber pilots!

I was in my mid 30's back then, they were both in their 80's!

I doubted them initially, a few email exchanges with scans of their log books soon had me eating humble pie.

Both gone now, but not forgotten!

That's quite a nice memory.

At the end of the day mate, if you still enjoy gaming (and I'm guessing you do, like everyone here I'd imagine) then continue to do so, age has nothing to do with it. You have to remember your mum is from a different generation and they see gaming in a different light. I'm 30, and I still game, and my dad turned 60 last month and he still plays Gran Turismo on his PS3 and loves it. If you enjoy it, it's legal, then continue to do it, that's what I say :D

The average age of gamers is only going to increase as we all get older, it's no longer taboo like back in the late 80s / early 90s for older people to play games.

If your happy gaming then game on :)

I am also that age *cries*

I love gaming. It is one of only a few past times where I forget about the issues that the world faces - famine, greed, global warming, EA etc - and I can immerse myself. Currently I am a pink fairy princess in a land far away

I'm 45 and game for around 10-15 hours a week. Because of this, I'm very selective as to what I play.. The only difference is prioritising my time, making sure i make enough time for my wife and family.

I'm 47 and this is almost what I'm like with gaming now. I love games but gone are the days when I could spend all night/weekends playing them. Now I prioritise my gaming time in line with what my wife is doing. If she has a bath I know I've got at least an hour! I always try to stop playing games around 9 so we can sit down together and watch some telly before going to bed.

I look back to when WoW was first released and how much time I spent on that. I was so selfish and any spare minute was consumed by it. Saying that though, I finish work in an hour so I'll be cracking out a couple of hours on FFXIV before she comes home at 4 :)

31 in a month, my mum popped by my flat today and saw my PC setup, gaming mice/keyboard/wheel etc.. and commented that I was 'too old' for this sort of stuff and she thought i'd have grown out of it by 25 :D
I play a lot of FPS and racing games, got a girlfriend, own my flat, good job and some modicum of a social life... why the hate man? :D

Is there really an age where its best to just put the controller down?

Hell no!!

I would have asked your mum if she thought she was too old for sex :D

BOOM, headshot!!

:p

Games more complex, not from a gameplay point of view. They suffer from being dumbed down for the masses (mostly)

35 now and im told on average once a month will you ever stop playing games and sell that piece of **** :( from the girlfriend. having 3 young kids kinda keeps me from playing every day anyways... but ill never stop playing games... ill be playing with the grandkids someday :) hahah.

44, Married, baby, so it's the odd cheeky hour after putting the little one to bed or the classic Friday all nighter. Never too old, just less time to do it.

31, no wife or kids, I am getting bored of many many games now, these Steam sales and Humble Bundles mean very little to me. The games I do like though I still play regularly.

I'm in my late 30's ( wow when your told as a teenager life rushes you by they weren't kidding!). I have a few businesses under my care and average a 70 hour week.

I rather game and read books than watch TV..xfactor..yuk!

I enjoy seeing the kids online ragequit when I gank them...it gives me a immense sense of wellbeing.
