Hard thing is, losing bodyweight through exercise is a bit of a fallacy. Most people stonewall their weight loss at a certain mass (then even start to GAIN weight from exercising!) because they're putting on muscle. Which is no bad thing.
I say sod the BMI - when you're relatively fit and healthy and in the average range, it's a poor indicator of overall fitness. Do something like Starting Strength Stronglifts till you can deadlift 2x bodyweight, bench bodyweight, and squat 1.5x bodyweight; run a mile and a half in 8.5 minutes; swim 200m.
Train for function, not form!
