Hey all,

SO this is the 1st big mod I have done in ages, I got one of those £35 H100's on my CPU (required silicon sealant to stop it leaking, but good now, ivy at 4.4ghz, used to be near 80c load, now 61.)

So what to do with my old OCUK H20 flow CPU cooler? (H80 basically).......... MOUNT IT ON MY GRAPHICS CARD !!

Doing this was tricky and I didnt have tons of spare bits, I did however get a copper shim to make contact with the GPU, here is how I went:

1) cool ultra on the gpu, cable ties in place

DONE!

Now to cable tie the Cooling block down (2 on each corner just in case):

And finally installed into the system:

Now of course its a little messy and I Have a plastic drip tray underneath the H100 just in case :D

But now I get these temps:

Default sapphire 7950 flex cooler:

49c idle, about 78c load

H20 cooler:

44c idle, 62c load

NOT BAD :D

Thats Gutsy if thats even a word but awwsome, well done. This is one of the awwsome things PCs are about, modding the crap out of it.

Pretty cool mod :) might post this on our Facebook later on.

Thanks guys :D

Silly question, if you got one of the H100's and it leaked why didn't you send it back, as it is clearly faulty?

I asked but they were out of stock so could only refund, for £35 I took a punt at repairing it and so far, so good :D

I just maxed the overclocking sliders in AMD Overdrive and ran AIDA64 GPU stability test, doesn't even bat an eyelid at that, solid stable so far ! lol

Maxed at 66c load average 52.4, this is with +19 on the power control settings

Good idea. glad it worked out for you. but damn you need some cable ties on those wires also ;)

oh my !!!!!

Sealant on a fauly H100, cable ties and a drip tray. :(

That is without looking at the other cable tied on fans etc in the rest of the case.

Good luck.

Haha true, many cable ties, but I don't spend all day looking inside my PC ;)

Its nice an quiet as well now with all fans on low settings.

True it was abit leaky on arrival, but, its fine now its in place, it was only a few drops anyways, I also ran it outside the case for 3 days to see if it would leak and not a drop :o, must have just happened and its ok now.

Thanks guys :)

How do I find out the VRM temps ?

Previously it had the 2 graphics card fans blowing air over that area through the heatsink.

Now I just have 2 92mm fans blowing over the same area but not going through the heatsink 1st.

You really didnt consider the VRM temps? Install GPUz and check as soon as you can, if not sooner.

Theres a VRM up by the display ports and a row by the Magic R19 chips. I can see theres a metal heatsink covering them.

OF COURSE I CONSIDERED THEM, I looked at how the card is currently cooled.......to small fans blowing down on those areas through the heatsink.

I then IMPROVED upon that by putting 2 92mm fans (AS I SAID ABOVE), blowing directly onto those areas.

Ergo, I have either matched or bettered the cooling in those areas and the GPU is now watercooled.

I did consider and was aware that this section of the card also needs to be cooled.

UPDATE: Now loaded GPUZ and VRM 1 is 30c, VRM 2 is 26c - seems ok to me.

One thing to remember is the 7*** series need a copper shim, so you've got to transfer heat through TM, shim, another layer of TM then the block. You're going to see temps a good few degrees over what you'd achieve if you had the block directly on the GPU (about 10 degrees higher iirc).

Yup as per origonal post I have a copper shim on it :)

Yeahhh it has cool lab ultra either side and seems ok

Nice one But "I got one of those £35 H100's on my CPU (required silicon sealant to stop it leaking" - this part worries me :p

Haha just gotta have some faith in ones own ability to repair things ;)

Well done, you seem to be cooling those vrms better than a full face water cooled block.

Cheers brother ! - it's ok, I can read. However I can sense that this maybe incorrect info GPUZ is giving me.......... ;)

Knowing little about VRM's, what temp should I be seeing ? lol

ALSO - I am cooling them better than Sapphire did, are you suggesting you need to go work for them to correct their mistakes ? :p, They seemed to think that blowing air over them was ok ?, the card is not modded in any other way, the heatsink was ONLY in contact with the GPU originally it did not contact the car in any other way??

well done, Bit it wasn't exactly a risk?

Also i think your mad for running the system the way it is.

Why mad? its cooled.......with water coolers, that anyone can buy, its near silent, why mad? lol

Old hat mate, been there done that bought the t-shirt
