Tool on the 13th

I thought the huge video screen was great. Doesn't bother me particularly if I don't watch the band for the whole performance, I had my eyes closed for about twenty - thirty minutes during the gig anyways.

Personally it blew me away, and is definitely in my top five gigs ever, and in some respects, my favourite. Danny was absolutely amazing, and it only further cemented the fact that Chancellor is one of my top bassists ever. One thing that irked me though was the fact that all over the bars were posters saying "Tool 8.00 - 10.00". Typical Tool bull to come on at 8.40ish, and then ask everyone to put their bags in the cloakroom, meaning I was still at the Apollo at 11.20 (when the gig finished at 10.20) to collect my bag.

Was good to meet Mohinder and Big Chris too :)

It really was awesome.

I don't think I've been to many, if any, better concerts. So tight, so loud, so many good songs (could they play a bad one?), cool video screens and some fantastic drumming.

Unlucky on the bag front. I had a chuckle on my way past :p .

You guys were at a meet?

Shame on you for not inviting CBS

In my wildest dreams I was hoping for a 'Salival' style rework of some of their songs. I wasn't happy with the drum solo TBH - I know Carey is a good drummer and dont need it proven to me, especially when he works so hard on most songs... I have seen drum solos from most rock bands, didn't need one from Tool

Hmmm... which reminds me.

There was a guy in front who was more concered about texting his mates than the music...

And there were several guys in the aisle who were spreading their arms out like fools to try and 'get into it'...

he wasn't 6ft 27, with a mouth like a brickey with an attitude problem, was he? might've been Chris :p

To absorb the music, or getting off with a girl? :p

Thought it was absolutely awesome, just incredible one of the best gigs i have ever been too definately up there with seeing NiN at brixton last year.

Danny Carey is ***** awesome, spent large parts of the gig just watching him in absolute awe.

Maynards voice is simply stunning, Sober was awesome, probably my favourite tool song and live it was absolutely incredible.

Oh yea did anyone else apart from me and my friends think that maynard looked like a chicken with his mohawk ?

The former. But then even if the girl I had wanted to go with had come along, she would have taken second place to Tool anyway :p

That was excellent.

They are so good, so tight, and nice and loud too! (although the vocals were a bit naff to start with, but they seemed to sort that out)

Glad I didn't take a bag...

I thought it was excellent. highlights for me were Right In Two (drumming was excellent), Stinkfist and Lateralus. I took a few pics but the one below is about the best quality.

Wasn't really planned, Carzy got my number from Sic, I tried my best to hide from him but I'm 6ft 27 so it didn't really work... ;)

As for the performance; simply stunning. I knew it was going to be special but it was just awesome in every way. Even though it was probably 400c in there and I had to burn the clothes I was wearing afterwards, not to mention the 250 mile round trip that I drove there and back, it was worth it.

I kinda wish I'd got a ticket to tonight's show now though.

I seen them in Glasgow on the 11th i thought it was awsome but was really surprised they didnt play The Pot. I found the extra bit in Stinkfist rather good and the change in Schism was pretty good. I see you got 4 picture walls :s we only had 2 but it was a smaller venue.

Actually I got it from Sic for Carzy :D

As he said though it wasn't really planned, me and my mate met up with Carzy and I only actually met Chris for about two minutes! :D

Just got back from tonight's gig and didn't see the bag queue comments til now so got owned by the queue. Echo everyone's comments, drumming was incredible, setlist was great, but I did find the bass was a bit too much the send half so loud and distorted that I couldn't hear Maynard or a lot of Adam's stuff too. I know they use a lot of distortion which sounds great, but the last few songs it didn't sound 'right'.

I thought the crowd didn't react to the new material much at all, especially Right In Two. Everyone loved Vicarious, Jambi but Rosetta Stoned (on 14th), Right in Two (both nights) had a luke warm reception at best...

Either way it was a solid gig, Maynard was better than I've ever seen him and the band were incredibly tight. I was hoping for something a little more on the lines of Salival but... oh well... 'apparently nothing'

thanks to my main dawg carzy, YOU GOT IT RIGHT BRO, yo.

i managed to escape after aenima, beating a small child along the way and got my bag in 5 minutes flat, i told this advice to the guys i was queueing with at the start and they were so appreciative, they gave me a free cd and dvd of their band (16stitch?). Top night, was not disappointed.

edit* oh yeah even better about this day was i had bbq ribs for lunch at hardrock cafe (35th birthday)
