hi,

i have a 14gb avi file which is captured in from a camcorder. I want to split this clip in 3 and put onto 3 dvds... anyone know of any tools that will split the clip without having to re-render? I just want it to be a data dvd, not a mpeg-2 ready to play dvd.

TIA
Jonny

virtualDub will do that for you if I remember right.
Would personally reccomend encoding it down unless you need it kept lostless.

14Gb? That's one hell of an Avi. Convert into Dvd format and the size multiply's.

Virtualdub would be the best for cutting an Avi into as many parts as you require. Vdub guide

vdub with direct stream copy if your just splitting the file to save onto dvd.

alternatively you could use rar / zip and split the archive

or if your going to encode it to a regular dvd mpeg the dvd conversion process will shrink it down to fit easily

Dvd Shrink is also an excellent tool for reducing the size of the Dvd was encoded.
