Was having a discussion with friends and couldn't really decide on my definitive list.

I managed to pinpoint my best 'Cinema experiences' but that doesn't mean they make my best movies list (Intersteller in IMAX for instance)

When you think back it was a very good decade overall, including older movies like 'The Social Network' and 'Shutter Island'

What's your top 10 list of movies 2010-2019?

Joker

Winter Soldier
Infinity War
Interstellar
Whiplash
Parasite
Manchester by the sea
Grand Budapest Hotel
Drive

Those are the ones that stand out at the moment but there has been a lot of great films in the last ten years, i could easily list another 20!

Problem for me is most of the "definitive" movies I've seen were late 90s, early 2000s and not much has really stood out for me since as at least for me many of these genres have been done to death or pale imitations of movies that stuck with you the first time you saw such a movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy and Sicario did something a bit different in genres that were getting a bit stale and were decent in their own way so I'd put them high up as some of the better releases this past decade but I wouldn't put them in a definitive list.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Dunkirk yet, Tarantino had that at number 2 on his list.

That was one of the great cinema experiences I was referring to in my OP.

I've not watched all that many movies this decade, my first child was born early-2010 and that coincided with a big drop off in cinema trips (and I pretty much watched no TV at home for about 5 years).

But I'm pretty confident the best action movie of the decade must be Fury Road. Just a perfect example the genre.

This is hard but immediate favourites I can go back to easily and will rewatch to my dying day:

Dredd
Sicario
I Saw The Devil
End Of Watch
Blade Runner 2049
Max Max Fury Road
Inception
Starred Up
Nightcrawler
Ex Machina

There are more but I stopped when I got to 10, there are probably others that are in the top 10 that I can't think of at the moment.

I've hardly seen any now that I think about it.
I'll throw in Skyfall.

I find this unfathomable, one of the most confused and nonsensical plots of the decade, but each to their own.

Overall there were few films that blew me away compared to my list for say the 90s but these were the best of the bunch.

Sicario
Inception
Get out
A most violent year
The Irishman
Blade runner 2049
Black Swan
The revenent
Place beyond the pines
Drive

Top Bottom
