Seriously, I find foreign films soooo much better than english speaking creations. No idea why, but they just seem much more willing to try something outside of the box and seem to put much more effort into storyline and character development instead of cgi and explosions.

The first two are overrated, the third is daft.

Beaten to it.
There's a Chinese/Korean film about a guy who is locked away for many years and he finally escapes and hunts down his captors but I can't think of the name.
EDIT: Old Boy - great film!

another vote for this, it's a great film, I really like some of the ideas in it as well
