Hiper Type R 580w which exploded spectacularly and took out a two week old DFI motherboard.

Powercolour ATI 4850 1GB that arrived faulty.

2x MSI P35 Neo-F and 2x MSI P31 Neo-F motherboards. Most unstable, poor quality pc components i have ever had the misfortune of coming across.

3x Maxtor Diamondmax hdd's. The original was a Diamond Max 7 which was warranty replaced with a Dmax 9 which was warranty replaced by a Dmax 10 which also failed and found itself getting beat up with a sledgehammer. Lesson learnt? Avoid Maxtor like the plague.

Posted in the other thread too as i did'nt know which one you wanted to shut down.

I used to be a techy so i've seen loads but the most common

1) PSU then components damaged by insufficent or faultly PSU in order HDD, RAM, mobo
2) HDD various but IBM was a common make I used to see faulty.
3) CD-ROM/DVD drives - benq was popular in failing
4) RAM - normally unbranded stuff found in Tiny, gateway, HP and other pre constructed monstrosities
5) Mobos special mention to MSI.

Problem is with this it's hard to say if they where bad components in a way that I don't know what the market share for each product was at the time. The only products that I found regularly faulty new out of the box was gigabyte motherboards and IBM hardrives.
Hope that helps:)

The most common component I've had fail over the past 20 years would be hard drives, PSU's then motherboards and finally CPU's.

I think maybe one sound card and a couple of monitors ... I've always shifted and upgraded stuff before it gets too old though.

The rest I've contributed to their early demise, keyboards, mice ETC.

I've always aimed high with the best knowledge available and chose components for quality and known durability where possible.

Quantum Fireball 8GB HD
Enermax 500W Liberty
MSI Neo2 Platinum S939
And a Hercules ATI 9800 AGP decided to melt.

All from 1999+

And forgot a prehistoric creative CD-RW drive failed.
