Looking for a mesh setup for my flat.

using virgin media 350 and signals fine in the
Living room but concrete walls play
Havoc with getting a decent signal, short term lease so I don’t want to be running cat 6 round the place. Don’t mind spending a fair amount of cash for a decent setup. Previously tried basic Orbi kit in the old house which didn’t impress

Let's be clear, concrete ruins WiFi. That will include a WiFi backhaul between mesh nodes so you may still struggle to see a worthwhile improvement depending how thick the walls are and how much of a propogation loss is experienced.

The only foolproof way to get around the concrete issues would be to cable AP's, but like you I rent so fully appreciate this isn't always possible.

Honestly I don't think anyone can give you a magic bullet suggestion here, you may just have to experiment and see what works. Try a mesh or maybe power line system and see what works best in your situation. Maybe try from Amazon who have a good returns policy.

Interesting what you say about Orbi, they always get a good reputation as one of the better mesh systems with a dedicated WiFi channel backhaul. I've used tplink deco before with good results although no dedicated WiFi backhaul and I used ethernet over poweline to connect them all. Plus the ap configuration is quite limited.
