Top Gear Returns Sunday 22nd June 2008

I hope lewis hamilton is back on, but saying is easier than doing.

One thing I didn't like is them trying to mess other people track days up for the alfa challenge, thats just kind of harsh.

if you looked though, they only did the rolling blockade for like 1/4 of 1 lap.

Whats 2 minutes or whatever out of a couple of hours worth of trackday if you get to be on top gear ?

Exactly and I can only assume it was planned as well for safety reasons.

Also the fact that JC (I think) got a black flag but later on managed to go on the track again and get another black flag

It was quite obvious the whole trackday thing was arranged properly - they wouldnt turn up to a random trackday and then act like morons. Stop trying to analyse everything, sit back and enjoy the entertainment.

Exactly, it's great entertainment.

Put your feet up, switch your brain off and have a beer...
It excels at what it is and that's pure entertainment lose focused around cars.

Don't think I've seen James May looking that genuinely annoyed before, looked like he spent ages tarting that car up and the others were being utter utter barstewards by crashing into him. I nearly cried with laughter when JC did it at the entrance to the show.

Great episode I thought, even the star in a car bit was quite good.

The black flags I bet were filmed when everyone else wasn't on track.

And I bet the "rolling barricade" bit was filmed with everyone's agreement.

End of the day those people were paying good money to be there (track days aren't cheap) so they would have had something to say if Top Gear came along and ruined their day...

As Fox says though.. TG isn't meant to be analysed like this! :)

I felt sorry for James May as he was clearly putting effort in to polish up his car when the other two were just mucking around. He said the line that all first-time detailers say "Wow look at that!!!" when he buffed off the polish :p Can't fake that.

Liar, its an old episode:mad:
I thought it was a new one, was gutted:(

Tis tonight

3/6

The very latest Top Gear news and views from the team. Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May explore the idea that you can't be a proper petrolhead unless you have owned an Alfa Romeo by buying three slightly used Alfas, each for less than 1,000 pounds. Jeremy also conducts possibly the least appropriate power test ever as he takes the gargantuan Bentley Brooklands onto the track, and Gavin and Stacey actors James Corden and Mathew Horne are the stars in the Reasonably Priced Car.

did you guys see the recovery vehicle drive past after they had finally arrived after "towing" hammond?...
made me laugh
(when they had arrived at the over night stay)

Top Gear

Sunday 13 July
8:00pm - 9:00pm
BBC2

Top Gear undertakes one of its epic races as Jeremy Clarkson attempts to drive the remarkable new Nissan GT-R right across Japan faster than Richard Hammond and James May can make the same journey on the legendary Bullet Train. Plus, Richard tries Toyota's idea of personal transport for the future, the sensational Alfa Romeo 8C brings some glamour to the Top Gear track and news readers Fiona Bruce and Kate Silverton are the Stars in The Reasonably Priced Car.

Sounds like it'll be a great episode! Looking forward to seeing the Alfa Romeo 8C on the track....as it's pefection on four wheels in my book! :D

Andy Wilman has said a few words about the presenters wages and the stories about RH and JM threatening to leave because JC gets a million an episode and they get buttons. Much of it wouldn't fit the language rules here, because he dismisses the idea very bluntly, but being paid vast sums of money has apparently become a bit of a joke with the 4 of them. This bit from his latest post made me laugh:

Well, I've just got back from the bank with the presenters' wages, and it took a while because it's a bugger parking a container ship outside Nat West.

Anyway that'll keep them happy for a day or so, which means we can put another programme on air.
