Top Gear Series 18 *SPOILERS*

This new Stig is amazing, all celebs are getting stupidly quick times with this Kia!

I was thinking this as well, everyone this season has had pretty fast laps while struggling with ice and dropped gear changes and such… Plenty of theorys as to why the lap times are good, wonder if it'll continue?

I don't know why but I found tonights episode really boring :(

Far from boring compared to last week imo. Liked the sound of the Bentley.

Oddly enough, one of the things I found funniest in that episode was that Jeremy and Richard still had the labels on for some of their wintry clothing (their hats being the most obvious).

I noticed that as well. Budget cuts must be hurting!

The labels are an in joke, seen it in previous episodes too and has been a running trend with one of DigitalRev's reviewers for a long time now.

Another good ep, last one was naff but that has been the odd one out so far.

Wonder how many complaints in the daily fail about laughing at disabled servicemen when they were the ones laughing.

It's not often someone can say "my leg's fallen off" and mean it literally.

I was surprised at Clarkson's eight-wheeler being OK for length. Surely that's too long for a mobility scooter?

Great ep that, enjoyed everything about it.

Not so sure what they said about the generator powered electric car was right though, i'm sure someone has done that before.

The idea of an ICE to generate electricity for an electric motor (which is what he was referring to, not specifically a car) has been in use for decades in trains. It's older than James May.

I just looked it up - 1917!

EDIT: They could have explained it very simply, too. ICEs are most efficient in a narrow rev range. The gain from keeping in that range is greater than the loss from generating electricty, charging batteries and powering an electric motor (which maintains efficiency much better over a much wider rev range, so it's better suited to powering a car).

I truly believe that the short term future of cars before they can get a non-battery based tech working (hydrogen etc.) is a fixed rpm 0.6 2cyl turbo diesel bolted to the end of a powerful alternator constantly recharging the system.

I laughed at the scooter segment, was very amusin watching Jeremy struggle, and when it went off down the hill.

The snow segment was amusing.

Ferrari's have been ugly for quite a few years now.
I disagree with this. The 360/430/458/599 are stunning looking cars. The 612 is a bit awkward looking and although I do like the front of the FF the back end is horrible.

I thought it was awesome:cool:

I only enjoyed the Ferrari/Bentley bit, pity they didn’t cover the Ferrari 4WD system in more detail. The rest was boring and the scooter bit was just schoolboy nonsense. I spent more time looking at a motoring magazine then I did looking at the screen.

Risking the wrath of Spie...

I'm glad I'm not the only person who just doesn't like the new Ferrari designs. That one last night looked like the original 1-series BMW from the side.

:(

360 was probably the last reasonable looking car they did.

Mind you, I drive an Aygo, what do I know about car design!

:)

I think you need to accept that those three dicking about on scooters is a hell of a lot more entertaining than doing Mondeo vs Vectra boot space tests. You've got other motoring programs like 5th gear for that.
