So I thought the BBC didn't use advertisements because they depended on license payers etc. Why are there 'American Express' ads on Topgear.com?

Or is it somehow a seperate franchise that falls out of the rules?

This website is made by BBC Worldwide.

BBC Worldwide is a commercial company that is owned by the BBC (and just the BBC).
No money from the licence fee was used to create this website.
The profits we make from it go back to BBC programme-makers to help fund great new BBC programmes.

Well I spose it keeps the licenece fee down, and its only fair people in other countries
some how support the bbc, through advertising.

lets see, ive got amex, VW, virgin broadband, mazda, citroen, autotrader, Dyson, and a pop up advert for Dodge.

that was from browsing two pages. those adverts were not rotating, but constantly viewable. Fricking ISOHUNT doesnt have that many!

personally I think its a disgusting sell out, and the BBC should not be allowed to do it, christ knows we pay them enough already.
