Topping up memory?

Anyone had issues topping up memory with the same brand. Couple of years back put 4GB in a friend's machine, recently upgraded it to 8GB buying the exact same memory brand, speed, part number everything (Ballistix BLS4G4D240FSC 4 GB DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) CL16) but am getting crashes when using both sticks together, each stick on it's own runs stable?

Mixed stuff before like this over time without issue? Have I just been lucky or is there a bios tweak that needs making, I'd have a look but I'm 60 miles away from them at the moment!

i have a 4gb and 8gb ballistix sports 2400 in my current system working just fine and ive overclocked them to 2933, i had various systems swapping the ram between, so i had single 4gb then added a 2nd, then added a single 8gb now got the 4gb added. only both amd and intel i had no issues.

you sure the crashes are ram related?

Have you tested every memory slot seperately?

Good to hear, i'm hoping its just going to be bios tweaking, as i say its rock solid on one stick.

Couldn't say actually it's a good shout, it's my brother in law that's testing, I'm not going to get to see it until the weekend at the earliest.

Confirmed both slots are good this morning too :confused:
