Torchlight Action RPG by ex Blizzard North

Just started this last night after getting cheap over crimbo. Having never played Diablo before I didn't know what to expect but I'm really enjoying this.

I understand there is a decent mod scene for it too, any decent site where all the best mods are?

Try Torchleech its pretty handy for mods.

Altered Beast Voice

RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE. Yeah needed a thread revival intro.

Any way, I've finally gotten round to playing this and was wondering how people found the dual wielding gunslinger build? I think it's sheer brilliance.

I've got 10 ranks in Dual Wiel, 10 in ranged weapon specialization 5 in crit + and 5 in explosive shot, annihilates them all.

Is there unique pistols? I've only ever got blues. :(

Yup there are unique and epic unique versions of each weapon category. If that helps, I found running around with items increasing magic item find incredibly useful for fishing for epics.

Awesome! I'll end up getting the passive bonuses too probably, as far as I'm aware can just keep levelling till 100? Do you stop getting skill points?

Just played this last night for the first time in months, unfortunately in a fit or rage i deleted my characters the last time i played so i had to start out again :(

Anyways started a new Destroyer on the Extra Hard mode....level 10 now and getting owned hard :D

As far as I can tell level 85 was max (and 55 fame). I made the same mistake as you looking at achievements - what it actually says is dungeon level 100 ;)

As for Vanquisher (or was that Destroyer, can't remember), had lots of fun with it once I found two epic swords increasing my crit by 80% and 40%, together with maxed out critical, dual weilding, weapon spec talents and the last talent in berserker tree I was kicking some serious ass :D

I prefer to use a single rifle.

That + Explosive shot is awesome

Had a quick blast on this last night for an hour or so, although I knew it was a Diablo2 clone I'm actually quite surprised how much of a ripoff it is :) Everything right down to the scrolls, potions etc screams D2.

Nice to play in a more modern engine but I'd say it feels almost like a mod for D2 rather than a new game.

Not knocking the game it is worth the £3.74 but maybe I was just taken aback a little at how similar it was. One thing I do like is the pet, gives you some help in combat, extra carrying ability, and somewhere to put your 3rd and 4th choice rings.

Also not entirely convinced by the cartoon style graphics but it seems fairly easy to pickup and play, so good be a nice game for kids around 10-12 or so.

Bit further in now, Level 26:

The Good:
+Sending pet back to town with loot
+Optimised inventory system (compared to D2) in terms of comparing items, swapping between inv/pet/stash/vendor etc, all items taking just 1 slot etc
+Very good performance
+Easy to play and vaguely addictive, like most looting games
+Ability to use hybrid playstyles rather than being tied down by your class. For example I'm a Fighter but can still be effective with the right ranged weapons or spells when required

The Bad:
-Seems a bit too easy, I'm playing a Melee character but ran around with a unique pistol equipped for a while just to give a bit of variety
-Not always clear what level dungeon a portal will take you to (e.g. Hatch's quests), so sometimes you end up a bit out of your depth
-Would be nice to have an option to auto-pickup loot when walking over it (in the same way as happens for gold)
-Fishing is very easy/boring/repetitive - really not sure what the point is, surely a pool should get exhausted after a while?
-Easy to lose sight of the cursor during combat with large mobs when spells are going off. Would be nice to have some option for a high-vis cursor.
-Question marks over the longevity of the game, I can see myself getting bored with it after a week or two. Once completed I doubt I will replay even with a different class
-Could maybe do with more Waypoint portals
-Storyline seems largely forgettable, it lacks the Blizzard lore
