Torchlight II

The things you noted about Torchlight's mechanics that you claimed were the same as Diablo's are all in Titan Quest aswell, that is what I was talking about.

Oh btw your attitude and the tone in your posts make you come across as a ****.

Just sayin'

Yeah my attitude yet your the guy dishing out the insults? I have an attitude because I disagree with you? Grow up lad.

Titan Quest is totally different to diablo and torchlight. Same genre, totally different feel to them. If you can't see that then there's something sadly wrong.

How've I made myself look like a moron when I compared TL2 to D3. I think you need to re-read what I wrote. If that's the case it shouldn't be anything like D3 then should it. Calm down with the insults pal your the one making yourself look the fool.

Funny, this is a clone of D3 apparently, which was a total rip-off of D2, which these guys made.

Oh, but it's a clone, because you can loot bodies and rocks. Rofl. Oh dear. Just leave.

Yeah so you take 2 parts of my post to try and make me seem stupid. Read the rest of what I've said. Ofcourse I didn't think just the way you can loot the bodies and rocks was what made it a clone. Pathetic attempt, try harder.

Seems like some of you have took a vengeance because I don't like the game and you do. I didn't realise on this forum we had to all agree with each other otherwise people just start calling each other and telling them to leave.

Seriously what is so bad about me explaining I didn't like the game because it felt like something I'd already played. It's pretty sad if that winds you up that badly you need to start dishing out insults.

I didn't say it's a bad game, infact I'd probably love it if I hadn't played D3 a lot.

Can we lay off the personal attacks? Yes the game does feel a bit like diablo, which is never ever a bad thing. It means it works. Could hardly be called a rip off though as its completely new content. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, along with don't change what isn't broken is how the genre works.

I was the one being polite despite the downright awkward and unpleasant experiences I've had with you in the past, then you started being smarmy and sarky for pretty much no reason, so my reponse was complete justified thank you.

Your reasons for disliking this game are over the top and to be quite honest completely ridiculous. This offers a much better experience than Diablo 3 with tons of extra content for a fraction of the price, it also offers a pretty genuine Diablo 2 experience in a fresh and more modern feel. Yes it is a clone, and yes it is ridiculous to dislike it for that fact. It's downright moronic. Games come out that feel like other games, to dislike them for that reason is idiotic. Did anyone slate Duke Nukem 3D for being a complete clone of Doom? No, it reached critical acclaim for the very reason that it bought a solid tried and tested method of enjoyable gameplay with a completely different feel and story. Infact I've never even seen it being called a Doom clone personally, despite being on an identical engine.

Every single 2D fighter pre-2000 felt almost exactly the same as Street Fighter 2. Exact same mechanics, feel and art style. Nobody hated them for that, and your probably the first person I've seen hate Torchlight for being a Diablo clone. Except the Blizzard fanboys of course.

I agree somewhat but continuing to imitate games isn't going to keep consumers happy. That said if you try to change things too much you end up with series like COD which have went downhill ever since the first.

Like I said I can totally see why some of you will enjoy this it just isn't for me that's all.

Not once was I smarmy or sarky so don't give me that. Even the way you have quoted my post just tells me your maturity levels. I won't even bother reading what you've said, your comments on Titan Quest being the same as diablo and torchlight were enough to tell me you're just arguing for arguments sake.

Vendors in towns. You'll go to a town within about 5 minutes of gameplay.

On another note, I don't think I wanna play anymore: :(

That phase challenge room was an absolute beeping beep. Died about 5 times before I manged.to shut off enough spawns to get the spiders down to a managable crowd. Awful when you're completely surrounded and can't move.

Which class are you playing as? Kiting them was a complete *****. :p

There is a fish you can get in the starting town that turns your pet into a high aggro tank. Tunnel Shark Fish I think, useful if your a build that can't kite.

It was mainly being unable to pick up the Poison Vial multiple times that kept leading ke to my death. You only needed to stay in one spot for a second before you were surrounded and couln't move :( Got it done eventually though.

As you know, games like these have that, if your playing single player there are situations where you need to deaggro, even the toughest Zerk will need to, that's where fish come into it.

What difficulty are you on?

I tried twice; both times I ended up surrounded and unable to even get to the poison :(

Need to try the pet-aggro trick mentioned above :p

Oh yeah, my extra 4-pack copies finally turned up this morning, huzzah!

fantastic game! such a breath of fresh air to actually get gear drops that you can use!

Gone down the route of ice mage which seems fine but a bit of a mana burner. I preferred the mage's in T1 with all the robots and things :D

Playing an engineer (well only about 20 mins before bed last night)

I never usually play a melee class in games like this and in the previous TL and D3 I used only ranged classes.

Its a bit different for me so far because of that reason! But I have LOVED what I have played.

Cant wait to sink some hours into this.

Can we stop the bickering please. If people don't like the game for their own reasons then fine, but I do and I'd like to read a thread about people enjoying the game. I've just sat here for almost half an hour reading silly squabbling posts.

Also, fantastic game. Being deaf however, I was slightly miffed that there wasn't any subtitles in the cutscenes

If that is true (you can't enable subtitles - I haven't checked) then if you feel like it you could raise it with Runic. Seems a sensible request and something I don't think would be hard to implement.
