Tormented Souls is a survival horror game developed by Dual Effect and Abstract Digital and published by PQube Limited. It was released on Steam for Microsoft Windows on August 27, 2021.

Survival Horror inspired by the original Resident Evil and Alone in the Dark series. With a fresh twist on the fixed perspective adventure, Tormented Souls modernises for a new generation - as Caroline Walker investigates the mysterious disappearance of twin girls in a terrifying mansion.

Thanks to @Nitefly for bringing this one to my attention. I only just started it but it looks really promising. So much Resident Evil nostalgia packed in it already in the first 10-15 minutes :D

Played through this - enjoyed it very much!

Things to keep in mind, it’s not a major studio game so it’s occasionally slightly janky (by modern major studio standards) - particularly with the voice acting.

Otherwise, it plays like a classic RE game with some supernatural elements. I’d say it’s more of a RE and Silent Hill mix. Puzzles are much better than the usual RE ones. Lighting is good and atmospheric. Plenty of fun exploring… all the good stuff!

It’s a fairly short game (sub-10 hours) but felt like I was ready for it to end when it did, so a good length for this sort of thing.

I also recommend not looking up anything as there is sort of a glitch that makes a section of the game easy that I stumbled across without wanting to.

Enjoy!

Never heard of this, never played the silent hill games, but a big fan of the resi evil series, both old and the newer games are not bad

There is a demo on steam. But you can grab a steam key for under £3 if you look around :D

Doesn't load 21:9 for me, setting to 1440p in settings results in a 2560x1440 (16:10) image, setting to 4K results in a scaled up image and thus cutting off the top and bottom areas of game frame. That's quite lame...

It is a pre-rendered game bro... :p

It’s not a game thread unless mrk comes in and updates us with his ultra widescreen experience :p

Yeah you can’t expect that sort of support from devs using pre-rendered backgrounds really, especially as ultra wide is such a niche market.

This is a travesty, I wish to unsee this thread, the £3 could have bought 65% of a McPlant burger (man maths today lol)!

That's nothing. I wish I could unsee your Uncharted Legacy posts. Cost me £15 but worse yet 15 hours. Could not help it and completed in the end as was so close :p

But that's an excellent pair of games with ultrawide support, and you experienced an epic story saga sprawling stunning landscapes!

But the gameplay sucks ass. Who cares about ultrawide if you can't get that right The story and graphics is what kept me going :)

I have not gamed in about a week and finally had the chance to play this. Managed to get the generators back online and ready to enter the main hall :)

Not a fan of the enemy types, but overall enjoying it so far.

Did anyone else who got it here manage to play? Thoughts? I know mrk refuses as it is not ultra wide compatible
