I know its probably been asked a 1000 times but I am in a bit of a quandary as to which one to go for.

I will be wanting two of them to run in SLI/Crossfire and the fact the 7970's are cheaper than the GTX 680's will help me save a few bob to pay for the Waterblocks.

The Heaven 3.0 and 3DMark benchmarks on these forums show the 7970's to be top class.

Any thoughts guys?

The 7970s are a teeny bit faster than the 680s when both are overclocked nowadays so as they're cheaper as well this would be my choice.

what about the price of waterblocks are they cheaper for 7970 or 680. You need to total the price for both before thinking about which is best ?

The 7970 offers more value than the 680.

The 7970 is probably the card to get for resolutions larger than 1200p due to vram.

The 680 has a price premium because it offers more features such as TXAA and Physx.

Rather than a 680 I think there is more value in getting one of the pre OC 670's such as the WF etc.... if you thought the 680 was for you.

If your OC'ing then probably even more value would be the 7950.

7970 and 680 are rendered unbuyable by their younger siblings IMO.

If you have money to burn then get one, or, consider the 7950 or 670. My 670s come boosted to 1085mhz out of the box making them 2% faster than a stock 680.

This is good value and would probably reach 7970 speeds once Oc'ed.

Although bare in mind with Oc'ing you always have that silicon lottery.

It depends OP, if you want to splash the cash I would get:

7970

670

Or the 7950 above.

For a 680 your looking £360-£370 for something that isnt that far ahead of the 670.

Your point was lost as soon as you mentioned a 670 ,
as you can get a 7970 for less than a 670

If no brand preference then 7950 is best value/performance for the money
